Ingredients
4cupsbeef brisket, chopped into large 1 inch pieces (see tips for reheating leftover brisket)
½cupbottled barbecue sauce,I used Sweet Baby Ray’s original
4bakery style sandwich buns,I used brioche style
Optional Sandwich Toppings
Slaw,2 cups shredded cabbage and carrot blend mixed with ⅓ cup bottled slaw dressing
Thinly sliced red onions
Sliced dill or sweet pickles
Additional barbecue sauce
Instructions
To a large bowl, add the chopped beef brisket and bottled barbecue sauce. Gently toss to coat all the brisket chunks in the barbecue sauce.
Top each of the bottom halves of the bakery-style sandwich buns with 1 cup of the sauce-coated brisket. Add desired optional toppings, then add the top half of the bun to serve.
To reheat leftover beef brisket, preheat your oven to 350°F. Place the brisket into a disposable aluminum pan or small roasting pan, and add any leftover pan drippings along with 1 cup water. Cover tightly with aluminum foil and set it in the oven for 20-30 minutes or until warmed through. You can spoon some of the liquids over the top of the beef brisket to re-moisten the meat if needed before chopping.
For a touch of crunch and an extra layer of flavor, lightly toast your brioche buns before building your sandwiches. It adds a nice texture contrast and keeps your bun from getting soggy.
