Ingredients
1boxrefrigerated pie crusts
10ouncesapple pie filling(½ of a 20-ounce can)
1teaspooncinnamon
⅛teaspoonnutmeg
1teaspoonvanilla extract
1egg
2tablespoonsmilk
4tablespoonscoarse sugar
Glaze
⅔cuppowdered sugar
1 to 2tablespoonsmilk
Instructions
Place apple pie filling, cinnamon, and nutmeg in a bowl and mix well.
With scissors, carefully cut the apple pieces into smaller pieces.
Roll out 1 pie crust. With a round 3-inch cookie cutter, cut as many circles as you can. Gather together the leftover pieces of pie crust, bring them together, and roll them out again. Repeat the process until all the pie crust is used.
Place a heaping tablespoon of the apple pie filling into the center of each circular pie.
With the second pie crust, repeat step three to make the tops for each pie.
Mix the egg and milk in a small bowl and brush the mixture around the edges before placing the tops on.
With a fork, gently press around the edge of your pies to seal them.
Brush the remaining egg mixture over the top of each pie and sprinkle with coarse sugar.
Cut a few little slits in the center of each pie before placing them into the air fryer. Make sure to spray the inside of the air fryer with some oil first.
Cook for 10-12 mins at 300°F or until golden brown.
For the glaze, mix together the powdered sugar with the milk. Add 1 tablespoon of milk at a time to get the consistency you like. If it's too runny, add more powdered sugar.
Notes
Make sure to check your air fryer manual for cooking time guidelines for your specific model, as times and temperatures vary depending on the type of air fryer you have.
You can also bake these hand pies in the oven. Just follow the baking instructions for the store-bought pastry you use. Or bake in a 350°F oven until golden brown.
