Instructions
To Make the Dressing
In a medium mixing bowl, use a handheld mixer on high speed to beat the heavy whipping cream until stiff peaks form.
Gently fold the mayonnaise into the whipped cream until fully combined, then set the mixture aside.
To Make the Salad
In a large mixing bowl, combine the chopped apples, celery, grapes, and walnuts.
Sprinkle the lemon juice and granulated sugar evenly over the apple mixture.
Use a large spoon to stir until all the ingredients are evenly coated.
Carefully fold the dressing into the apple mixture until everything is well combined. Cover the bowl tightly and refrigerate for 1 hour. Just before serving, garnish with the reserved halved grapes.
Notes
Choose seedless grapes for this recipe. If the green or red grapes at the store don’t look their best, you can use just one color as long as you still have a total of 1 cup.
You can prepare the Waldorf salad dressing the night before and store it in a mason jar in the refrigerator until you’re ready to use it.
The lemon juice and sugar help keep the apples from browning in the salad.
