Ingredients
¼cupunsalted margarine,melted
1½cupsday-old bread cubes
4 to 5cupstart apple slices
¾cupbrown sugar
1teaspooncinnamon
¼teaspoontable salt
2teaspoonslemon juice
⅓cupwater
Instructions
Preheat the oven to 350°F. Mix the melted margarine with the bread cubes.
Combine the apples with the sugar, cinnamon, and salt.
Place ⅓ of the bread cubes in the bottom of a greased 2-quart baking dish.
Cover the bottom of the pan with half of the apples.
Repeat with a second layer of ⅓ of the bread cubes and the remaining apples, then top with the last third of the bread cubes.
Combine the lemon juice and water. Then, pour this mixture over everything in your pan.
Cover and bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes. After 30 minutes, uncover and continue to bake for 30 minutes more.
