Ingredients
15ouncesbun-size or length franks,we used Ball Park brand (425 grams)
12ounces8-pack hot dog buns,we used our local grocery store brand (340 grams)
1tablespoonsalted butter,melted (optional)
Condiments of your choice
Instructions
Preheat your air fryer to 400°F. (Some models do not require a preheat cycle.)
While the air fryer is heating up, you can prepare the franks by making a few diagonal cuts on each one. This allows them to cook more evenly and gives a nice, slightly crispy texture. (Be sure not to cut too deeply.) You can even make diamond pattern cuts.
Once the air fryer is preheated, place the hot dogs in the air fryer basket, making sure they are evenly spaced.
Cook the hot dogs at 400°F for about 4-5 minutes. Check them at the 4-minute mark.
Once the hot dogs are done, place them in the buns. Brush the edges of the hot dog buns with the melted butter. (Depending on how large our air fryer is, you may need to work in batches.) Cook at 400°F for 2-3 minutes or until the edges are light golden brown. Remove the hot dogs from the air fryer basket and serve with your favorite condiments. If you prefer a soft hot dog bun, you can skip this step.
Notes
While your air fryer heats up, get your condiments ready. Have everything laid out so you can assemble your hot dogs quickly once they’re cooked.
Don’t cut your hot dogs too deep; just shallow cuts will do the trick. For a fun twist, try making diagonal or crisscross patterns on your franks. This doesn't just help in cooking but also allows for better condiment absorption.
Depending on the size and power of your air fryer, cooking times may vary slightly. It’s good to keep an eye on them during the final minutes to prevent overcooking.
If your air fryer is on the smaller side, you might need to cook the buns in batches. Alternatively, if you prefer softer buns, you can skip toasting them in the air fryer.
