1cupall-purpose flour
1/2cupcocoa powderdivided
3/4cupgranulated sugar
2tspbaking powder
1/2cupwhole milk
2tbspmelted butter
2tspvanilla extract
1/2cupsemi-sweet chocolate chips
1cuppacked light brown sugar
1 3/4cuphot water
Instructions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
In an 8 x 8 glass baking dish mix together flour, 1/4 cup cocoa powder, granulated sugar, and baking powder.
Mix in milk, butter, and vanilla extract until a thick batter forms.
Stir in chocolate chips and spread the batter evenly in the baking dish.
Combine remaining 1/4 cup of cocoa powder and brown sugar then sprinkle over the batter.
Pour hot water over the top of all ingredients.
Bake for 40 minutes or until the cake has formed a dry top and a bubbly, pudding-like bottom.
Remove from oven.
Serve warm cake with ice cream if desired. Top with whipped cream and a cherry!
