  • 1 cup of flour
  • ½ teaspoon of baking soda
  • ¼ teaspoon of salt
  • ¾ cup of sugar
  • 6 tablespoon of cocoa
  • 2 tablespoon of vinegar
  • ½ cup of milk
  • 2 tablespoon of melted shortening
  • 1 cup of chopped nuts
  • 1 cup of brown sugar
  • 1 ¾ cup of boiling water


  • Start by mixing together the flour, baking soda, salt, sugar, vinegar, milk, melted shortening, nuts and then add in two tablespoons of cocoa powder.
  • Once well mixed, pour into a baking pan.
  • Now, mix brown sugar, remaining four tablespoons of cocoa powder, and boiling water together then pour this syrup over the brown sugar mixture.
  • Bake 350* for 40-45 minutes. When done, it will be slightly crispy on top and gooey on the bottom, just like hot fudge. Delicious!
