In this case, Amy chose to celebrate Auburn University, so that meant using blue and orange. Bright orange pennants really pop against the bold blue table which prominently displays the AU logo.
A helmet, football and extra ice bucket are extra-nice decorative elements, but the colorful food presentation could stand alone. With a war cry, guests can tackle the stripe encased sub sandwiches, paired with a side of colorful pasta!
Even the chips are offered in blue and orange bags!
Touchdown footballs are actually chocolate-covered Oreos. Mini cupcakes are topped with sugar footballs and pennants.
Regular sized cupcakes are topped with the team mascot image, which was printed (with edible ink) on a sugar sheet of pre-cut circles.
The team mascot influence is seen again in the tiger tail marshmallow pops which were covered in orange and blue candy melts. Easy-peasy!
Now here’s where some tradition comes into play “Toomer’s is an old-fashioned drug store, on the corner right where the Auburn campus begins. Toomer’s has served fresh, hand squeezed lemonade daily, for generations, so it was the favored choice of beverage for this tailgate party.
Guests can fill their own bottles that jauntily cheer the team on with their “Go Tigers” and “War Eagle” decorative sleeves. An extra-cool detail is the football, helmet, and team logo charms to differentiate which bottle belongs to which guest. Another piece of tradition that made me giggle is the stack of toilet paper decoration in colorful labels, of course!
Who hasn’t been part of (or at least seen), the toilet papering of an opponent?! At Auburn I understand they toilet paper a certain town square area on game weekends, but you COULD include the toilet paper, just in case you wanted to”umm” remember Auburn?! In any event, this is a simple football tailgate party with loads of charm, that you could readily make your own!
