Ingredients for No Yeast Cinnamon Roll
You will need:
Cinnamon Rolls
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 3 Tablespoons sugar
- 1 Tablespoon baking powder
- 5 Tablespoons cold salted butter
- 3/4 cup milk
Cinnamon Filling
- 2/3 cup brown sugar
- 2 Tablespoons white sugar
- 1 1/2 teaspoons cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp allspice
- 4 Tbsp butter, melted
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Cream Icing
- 4 oz cream cheese, softened
- 4 tablespoon butter, melted
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
Substitutions and Additions
Cream Cheese: if you don’t like cream cheese frosting, you can leave this out. You will need to use milk or water to mix with the powdered sugar rather than the butter and add as needed to get the texture you want.
How to Make This No Yeast Cinnamon Roll Recipe
STEP ONE: Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F. Lightly grease an 11×7 baking dish.
STEP TWO: In a large mixing bowl add flour, sugar, and baking powder. Use a whisk to combine.
STEP THREE: Using a pastry cutter, cut in 5 tbsp of cold butter or use the two knives method.
STEP FOUR: Add the milk to the bowl and mix well until all ingredients are combined.
STEP FIVE: Place the dough onto a large floured surface and roll it until it forms a dough ball. Add additional flour as needed while you are rolling it into a ball.
STEP SIX: Use a rolling pin to roll the dough out to an approximate 10×12″ rectangle.
STEP SEVEN: In a separate bowl add brown sugar, sugar, cinnamon, and allspice. Whisk together. Add the vanilla and butter. Stir the ingredients together until well combined.
STEP EIGHT: Spread the cinnamon sugar over the rectangle of dough.
STEP NINE: Carefully roll the dough starting with one of the 12″ ends and roll.
STEP TEN: Cut the log using a very sharp knife into 1-inch wide slices.
STEP ELEVEN: Place cinnamon rolls in the 11×7 baking dish. Then bake at 375 degrees F 28 to 30 minutes. While the cinnamon rolls are baking start the icing.
STEP TWELVE: In a medium mixing bowl add cream, butter, and vanilla. Using a hand mixer beat together until smooth and creamy. Scrape down the sides of the bowl.
STEP THIRTEEN: Slowly add powdered sugar while continuing to beat together. If needed thin icing with milk, 1 tbsp at a time until the desired consistency is reached.
STEP FOURTEEN: When the cinnamon rolls are finished baking remove them from the oven and cover them in icing.
Storage
IN THE FRIDGE: Once you have iced the rolls, it is best to keep them in an airtight container in the fridge to stop the cream cheese frosting from spoiling. Eat them within 7 days.
IN THE FREEZER: You can also freeze homemade cinnamon rolls before you add the frosting. Pop each one in a freezer bag, freeze it and store for up to 3 months. To eat, defrost overnight then add the frosting.
