These muffins are a fusion of sweet cinnamon and sugar, rich butteriness, and a creamy homemade glaze.

The ground cinnamon and white sugar create a warm, caramelized outer layer, while the country-style biscuits offer a moist, buttery interior.

The icing sugar and milk glaze adds a sweet and creamy finishing touch, making these muffins a mouthwatering treat suitable for breakfast or dessert.

You’ll need:

For the Muffins

  • 1 tablespoon of ground cinnamon
  • ½ cup of white sugar
  • 2 cans of prepared country-style biscuits
  • ½ cup of butter, melted

For the Homemade Glaze

  • ¾ cup icing sugar
  • 2 tablespoons of milk

Substitutions And Additions

MIX-INS: Other popular items to add to your muffins before baking are cream cheese, apple pieces, or caramel sauce.

They are all amazing options. You can definitely get creative with your monkey bread muffin recipe.

CANNED BISCUITS: You can also use other canned biscuits instead of country-style ones. As long as you have biscuit dough, this recipe will turn out delicious.

Try cinnamon roll dough or any other biscuits you have on hand.

CHOCOLATE CHIPS: Add a sprinkle of chocolate chips on top of your biscuits before baking for a melted chocolate topping on your biscuits.

How To Make This Monkey Bread Muffins Recipe

Let’s have a look at the step-by-step instructions for making this fun muffin recipe.

OUR RECIPE DEVELOPER SAYS

You can even do the prep the night before. Do all the steps except the baking and then cover the pan of goodness with plastic wrap and refrigerate until you’re ready to put it in the oven.

STEP ONE: Preheat the oven to 350°F. Spray a muffin pan well with cooking spray.

PRO TIP:

It is really important that you spray the bottom of the muffin pan really, really well so that none of the deliciousness sticks to the pan.

STEP TWO: In a medium bowl, mix together the cinnamon and sugar. Set it aside.

STEP THREE: Take the prepared biscuit dough out of the package and cut each biscuit into six smaller equal pieces.

PRO TIP:

A pair of kitchen shears or a pizza cutter makes it easy to cut the dough into pieces. Spray with a bit of cooking spray first so that the sticky dough doesn’t stick to the cutter.

STEP FOUR: Once cut, toss gently in the cinnamon sugar mix until completely coated.

STEP FIVE: Press the biscuit pieces of the cinnamon sugar-coated dough into a greased muffin pan.

Be careful not to overfill, as the biscuits will rise significantly.

STEP SIX: Add the melted butter to the remaining cinnamon-sugar mixture and stir to combine well.

STEP SEVEN: Once mixed, spoon two to three tablespoons of the butter mixture onto each muffin.

PRO TIP:

Do NOT overfill with the butter mixture.

STEP EIGHT: Bake the muffins in the preheated oven for 20 minutes or until they are cooked through.

PRO TIP:

Place foil or a cookie sheet at the bottom of your oven to catch any boilover of the sugar/cinnamon mixture so you don’t end up with a mess at the bottom of your oven.

I just recently made pizza monkey bread, it was awesome. I’m looking to make apple monkey bread

  3. Landon Evans says

Is this recipe (says 9 servings) designed for a 6 slot muffin pan as shown in your YouTube video?

I’m going to attempt to make for 14 people this weekend (and want MORE than enough) so I’m trying to figure out how to proportion for two 12 slot muffin pans (24 muffins).

    • Layne Henderson says

The recipe measurements in the recipe card will make 9 muffins, so you’ll want to adjust those accordingly 🙂 It sounds like you might need to triple the recipe. I hope your whole gang enjoys!
