One of the best parts of being a mom is just doing life with your kids. Yeah, parties, holidays and significant events are special but it’s the everyday, real stuff that takes up most of the time. So you’ve got to make it count. At least, that’s how I see it.
Like lots of moms, one of the things I was eager to do when I had kids was share with them things that are important/enjoyable to me. One of my passions is baking. Whether it’s for holidays or everydays, I love to bake! We especially love to experiment in the kitchen with “make it yours” recipes. (Go here for the ultimate list of Christmas cookies.)
I wasn’t sure my boys would take to kitchen duties, although they certainly like to taste test for me! My oldest is four, and he is a very willing kitchen helper…
…especially if we’re baking cookies. So I try to regularly do that with him.
My photography sessions are keeping me busier than ever and with holidays just ahead, I know that things will just get crazier. Now that Number One is in pre-school, I hate that we don’t have as much time for kitchen adventures.
When I received Country Crock’s Make It Yours™ cookie recipe, I thought that could be a great way to give us time for the creative fun of whipping up new cookie combinations.
Country Crock® is the buttery spread that’s made from ingredients you can actually pronounce and now they’ve also come up with a cookie dough base that you can customize with favorite mix-ins.
It’s an easy way to have some kitchen fun with the family, even when we’re all busy with regular life or holiday time. The possibilities are endless!
This first time, I divided the Make It Yours dough into thirds so we ended up with three different cookie tastes: Coconut White Chocolate, Snickerdoodles, and Sprinkles.
It sure makes home-baked cookies a snap! Just follow the Country Crock Make It Yours directions on their package and then add in your favorite mix-ins.
We ended up making fun memories and enough cookies to share with our neighbor. I think the sharing is the best part. With the neighbor of course, but especially with my son.
Add ½ cup white chocolate chips and ¼ cup coconut to batter.
¼ cup sugar and ¾ teaspoon cinnamon for rolling cookies in before baking.
We added about ¾ cup sprinkles to the cookie dough and then added frosting and more sprinkles after they baked. My son loves sprinkles. He thinks they look like a party for your mouth. He’s right.
- 1 tablespoon Country Crock® Original Buttery Spread, melted
- ½ teaspoon vanilla
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1 tablespoon milk
Whisk together until smooth. Drizzle over cookie tops. Add extra sprinkles on top.
