If you’ve ever visited the South, you’ll appreciate the charming ideas in this sweet southern little man’s birthday party, styled by Kelli Cross, of Print & Cut Your Printables.
Kelli has always adored all things southern: sipping tea on the porch in white rocking chairs, beautiful magnolias, and most especially, being married to a man she describes as a “southern gentleman”.
Having a son who also loves all things “southern” lead Kelli to theme Hudson’s 2nd birthday party “Nothin’ in the World Like a Southern Boy”. You’ll love how she plays up her son’s love of dirt, country music, BBQ, sweet tea and watermelon in the sweet party decorations and birthday cake and kids party games. It was all photographed by TJ Photography.

So how exactly does one plan a soiree to celebrate a “southern boy”? Kelli opted to throw a good old fashioned backyard barbecue!
I bet you can guess some of the menu highlights: — Hudson’s favorites — barbecue and watermelon topped the list!
Other sensational sides included strawberries, coleslaw and southern style potato salad. A refreshingly simple table was set up which included clear glass jars filled with all of the fixin’s for a delicious meal.
I love the clean white tablecloth and how the personalized printable “Hudson” banner pops against it. Darling printable “made in the south” labels embellished containers which housed wooden cutlery.
Full of rustic charm and southern goodness, the dessert table was definitely a highlight! It’s amazing how simple white helium-filled balloons can make an impactful backdrop without much effort or expense.
The tissue tassel garland was an adorable way to dress up the front of the table.
Wooden crates and pie boxes added fun dimension and levels to the table while also providing a great platform for serving up yummy looking treats!
I love how printable party logos were purposefully used to add personalization and festivity to the desserts. Used on lollipop sticks, they dressed up cupcakes and the pie and were even added to paper rosettes to use as a cake topper.
Sweet monogram accents could be found throughout the table styling, including on napkins and by way of a white, wood letter “H”.
One of the crowd favorites, according to Kelli, was the “Sweeter in the South” decorated beverage cart.
Offerings included sweet tea, lemonade and Cheerwine (a regional cherry soda).
The cart looked adorable with oversized galvanized tubs filled with the beverage assortment, balloons in the party colors and a coordinating printable banner.
Activities aligned perfectly with the simple, down home feel and included swinging with friends, playing in the play house and running through the sprinkler.
Guests also participated in decorating fishing tackle boxes and filling them with bobbers and bait.
What a darling favor for southern boys who, according to Kellie, love to fish!
