Turning one-year-old calls for some serious birthday fun! Make sure you catch this boy’s Goldfish 1st Birthday Party planned by creative mom, Melita. Her son, Alek, loves swimming and being in the water so that made planning a goldfish-themed celebration a natural choice. Melita designed an adorable party scape using blue and orange decorations she made herself, combined with finds on Etsy and darling printable invitations, decorations, and party games. The birthday cake and party food choices were made to coordinate.

Because their “little fishy” was turning one, guests were invited by way of these cute goldfish invitations to swim on by for some birthday fun. We love how a framed copy of the invitation was used in the décor.

Outfitted in a bright blue table covering, the refreshment station was a sea of appetizing sweet and salty snacks. We love the way the banner by A to Zebra Celebrations hangs over the table and incorporates all of the vivid party colors.

Simple white platters and clear glass apothecary jars are good choices for striking edibles, including candy and gumballs. Candy is a great way to add a pop of color to a party table!. Orange, polka-dotted, chocolate-covered Oreos and colorful macarons look enticing.

Popcorn is always a popular snack at parties, especially where little guests are present. Melita dressed up the glass popcorn vessel with a printable goldfish sticker and orange ribbon. Sea glass-inspired lollipops are another lovely part of the dessert offerings.

An assortment of impressive sugar cookies filled a tiered stand and overflowed onto additional platters. Kay, of Rollin’ In Dough, designed and decorated the blue, round cookies with Alek’s name on them. Renee, of Bee’s Knees Creative, made all of the other gorgeous goldfish and seashell cookies on the table.

Paper sacks were embellished with “thanks for swimming by Alek’s 1st birthday” labels. We imagine guests had fun filling these up with favorites to take home. We love when cakes are made to coordinate with the chosen party theme. This beautiful cake, from Beverly’s Best Bakery, does an amazing job of replicating elements from the invitation. We adore the little fish bowl tier with the sweet little goldfish and the polka dots are a sweet touch.

A colorful beverage station was set up where guests could choose from apple and orange Izze sodas or bottled waters with precious custom beverage wraps. The color-coordinating stacks of blue cups and napkins are displayed nearby. Cute straws were topped off with festive party flags that Melita made.

Melita also decorated a beautiful outdoor tented space for guests to enjoy. The addition of colored balloons and paper lanterns added fun undersea inspiration. When little guests are invited to a party, planning for an activity station is a wonderful idea. Melita organized under-the-sea crafts that involved coloring and using sea-life stickers. In addition, a caricaturist created guest caricatures as party favors.

Guests also took home sand pails filled with beach-inspired toys. Each included a custom party favor tag to add that special detailed touch. We don’t think the birthday boy or girl could be any cuter next to the hand-painted wooden “one”, which not only served as a fun photo prop but was also a great way to anchor the party balloons. We can only imagine how much that sweet little one enjoyed his personalized “smash” cupcake. What a memorable goldfish first birthday party for one special boy or girl.
