This easy DIY paw print idea is the perfect way to celebrate your sweet four legged friend!
Pets hold a special place in our lives.
They’re our daily companions through good and bad. They witness the every day life of our families and offer their unconditional love in each circumstance.
There are few things as precious as walking in the door at the end of a long day to be enthusiastically greeted by your dog. They’re always full of love for their people. It’s a wonderful bond.
Even though our family doesn’t have a dog right now, I’m blessed to spend time with dear friends and family who have pets — which means I get to enjoy snuggles and puppy licks when visiting their homes.
Last year, my friend’s dog, Triton, passed away. Their family was so devastated.
The bond formed between a dog and family is strong and it’s so hard to say goodbye to an animal you love. They truly are part of the family.
After a few months, they decided it was time to look at puppies.
They found Kena, a beautiful German Shorthaired Pointer. She’s the perfect addition to their active family!
Kena is SO full of life! I loved spending time with her on a recent visit to their house.
She’s quickly bonded with her crew and they are looking forward to a wonderful life together, full of happy tail wags.
Because they love her, the family wants to do everything possible to help “fuel her wag”.
You know, that happy tail that let’s you know your dog is full of exuberance, enthusiasm, joy, and optimism. And of course, love.

During my visit with Kena’s family, I was invited to join them for a family walk — a favorite activity where Kena learns commands plus gets some energy out.
While we were walking, I suggested creating the DIY paw print art I’ll be showing you in a moment. It’s a great way to capture a momento of your favorite pet!
After losing Triton last year, I knew creating a DIY paw print keepsake would be a special idea that the family would love. I was also excited to capture some gorgeous photos of their new baby!
DIY Paw Print Art Supplies
For your keepsake, you’ll want to use high quality paper and a scrap booking ink pad. I used black, but you could select a different color if you want.
I also selected a frame with two openings so I could display a photo of Kena plus her paw print.
How to Create DIY Paw Print Art
This DIY is so easy! The hardest part of this project is bribing your four legged friend to stay still. 😉
You’ll press their paw into the ink pad until it’s evenly coated, then press their inked paw onto the paper. Make sure to apply pressure so that you get a clean, even paw print.
Afterwards, I framed the paw print and selected one of the photos I took during my visit with Kena to gift the family. I’m thrilled with how this easy DIY turned out. What a great momento to display!
Head to the store to grab your supplies — and some Nature’s Recipe, of course — to celebrate the bond you share with your dog!
