How to build a boy’s birthday party? Use a construction party theme as the foundation for busy hands and smiling faces.
Party on Purpose sent us these photos of a delightful dessert table and celebration for a three-year-old. The party was full of ideas from the birthday boy’s mom. The birthday cake, cupcakes, party games and favors all developed the theme and made for a sweet celebration.

Orange, aqua and grey were the primary colors in this construction party. I especially like the birthday banner because of the wide assortment of patterns that were used.
Note the trio of polka dotted ribbons used to hang the banners, too. Those small details add up to a lot of cute!
The cake and cupcakes were elevated on a wood crate; I like the touch of a ribbon tied around it. You probably couldn’t get away with that for an older boy, but it’s perfect on this table for a three-year-old.
Pictures of the birthday boy top the cupcakes, along with party medallions.
Tool shaped sugar cookies are perfect for this theme and letting the kids decorate them is a fun activity.
Kid-friendly food included individual cups of goldfish crackers, veggie cups, fruit kabobs, rocky road marshmallow pops, boulder chocolates, and dirt pudding cups.
Kraft paper covers kid-sized tables; the addition of blueprints works well, too. One table was used for a coloring activity and the other was a play dough station.
Party hats were personalized hard hats. Mom also took the time to monogram the tool belts with felt initials. It was a no-sew project using pinking shears and glue.
Little party guests were also treated to gable-ended favor boxes that held personal tool sets for take-home play.
A construction themed birthday party is sure to build fun times!
