When a love for art, particularly doodling, runs in the family, throwing an arts and crafts birthday party to celebrate your son’s first birthday is a fun choice.
Jo-Anne Wong, of Party Doll Manila, worked with event stylist Spark + Twinkle to execute the vision for the grand affair.
The creative ideas shared for art themed decorations, party games and activities and party favors are easily adaptable to any sized guest list. You wont want to miss the beautiful cake or food choices either.
Be prepared to get your creative juices flowing as you peek at the photos by Bea Caisip Photography.
A great celebration starts with a wonderful invitation.
Ink and Scissors created the perfect invite with a whimsical line art doodle character representative of Jo-Anne and Aedan’s love for doodling.
This doodle art style character became representative of the event, tying in the arts and crafts theme. Youll notice him and his doodle style friends popping up throughout the decorations and refreshments.
Guests at this event were warmly welcomed at the registration table. I love how photos of the guest of honor were hung with striped pennant flags as a sort of garland.
And do you see the oversized welcome sign?
There’s no mistaking where all the fun is. Cute doodle kids with party hats are the perfect welcoming committee.
Inside, an oversized backdrop was made for the stage to represent Aedan and his family, all in doodle character form of course. This definitely set the scene for a creative party.
Notice the large crayons. Can you get anything cuter for an art themed party?
When a venue (such as the Greenhills West Clubhouse seen here) has a lot of overhead space to fill, consider doing what Jo-Anne did: fill it with colorful balloons! Balloons easily fill a space and are a budget-friendly option.
Jo-Ann took things to a whole other level of creativity when she added hanging doodle characters to her balloons. What fun!
Beautiful tables were set up with colorful linens. What I loved most about the tables was the genius use of butcher paper table runners.
Crayons were laid out and guests were encouraged to doodle away!
A party where doodling on the table is encouraged? I’m in!
The doodle character was carried into the centerpiece designs for continuity and looked amazing paired with lovely flowers.
Adorable photos of Aedan were also on display. Photos are a fabulous way to decorate a tabletop and remind guests why they are gathered.
Jo-Anne opted for food carts to feed the masses. Flavored fries and corndogs were some of the crowd pleasing options.
If catering isn’t in your budget, choosing a simple make-at-home meal or scaling back to snacks is always a nice choice too.
An entire dessert spread was set up with a printed crayon backdrop to tie in the art theme.
Tall apothecary jars were filled with colorful candy and towered over dessert stands with sweet treats by Sugar Plum Pastries and french macarons by Michelle Sy.
The treat display included party favorites like chocolate covered Oreos, cake pops, sugar cookies and cupcakes.
Each was uniquely decorated with sweet doodle characters or theme coordinating details.
The masterpiece had to be the gorgeous 3-tiered cake by Tazzy Cakes.
Don’t you love the details on each tier and how the likeness of the images on the invitation were created by hand for the cake? Impressive!
Because a party isn’t a party without games and activities, Jo-Anne coordinated fun options for her guests.
First, guests could participate in an interactive photo booth.
Cute line art characters enhanced the photo booth backdrop and jumbo crayons made for perfect props!
Also on the agenda: a hired magician performing tricks to amaze guests. What a fun time!
Another party highlight was surely the personalized souvenir/favor station.
Can you imagine the thrill of getting to customize your own keychain?
And just check out all of the arts and crafts themed loot guests got to take home. Paper mache luggage with canvas fronts had the ability to provide hours of entertainment and crafting long after the party was over.
An art party that inspires more arts and crafting? Yes! Jo-Anne and her crew did such a wonderful job of creating a masterful party for all to enjoy.
