Peanut Butter Snickerdoodle Overnight Oatmeal

By  | Last Updated:

I am not an early-morning person. That makes getting everyone cleaned, dressed, fed and out the door—on time—quite a feat. But I’m doing it. I’ve made one little tweak to our routine and it’s making all the difference.

I wish I could get up with early song-birds and watch the sun reveal the magnificent ombre sky every morning. I imagine what it feels like to awaken clear-eyed, ready to roar and take on the world.

But I’m a night owl.

My arrival into this world was at night and I blame that after-hours entry for my propensity to stay up late. It seems there is always one more thing to stuff into the day before it’s tomorrow.

Plus, when everyone else is slumbering, the late hours feel like they are finally my time. No one is asking or demanding anything from me. I can work, dream, or just putz around.

It’s glorious…

…until the next morning. When the early birds in my house are chirping for breakfast and my body says it cannot possibly be today already but yes, indeed, it is time to rise and shine. Or whine. Whichever comes first.

You might think that repetitive scene would break my late-night habits. But I’ve found a better way. It’s called “think ahead”.

One of the worst things about early morning is having kitchen duty first thing. I love to cook but I prefer doing it with my eyes open so lunch and dinner are my specialties.

But I am happy to get breakfast ready the night before. A recipe like this Peanut Butter Snickerdoodle Overnight Oats is a boon to night owls and Glad Mini-Round Bowls are a bundle of good fortune.
