Foodie’s Night Out #PEPCIDTastemakers

I have received information, product and materials from McNeil Consumer Pharmaceuticals Co., the makers of PEPCID®. The opinions stated are my own. This is a sponsored post. I am a part of the Mom It Forward Blogger Network.

Do you consider yourself a foodie? Mike and I love to explore new tastes. Although we frequently entertain at home, we also enjoy visiting area restaurants and sampling original flavors. This weekend we hit two of our current favorite spots: a sushi restaurant and an Indian restaurant. It was such a treat to go out and enjoy great food that I didn’t have to cook.

On Saturday, we headed to Sushi Cove. Our next-door neighbor is friends with the owner so it’s always fun to go there. We love their food so we would patronize it anyway, but it is quite agreeable to be treated extra special! We had an awesome meal.

Cucumber and Avocado Veggie Sushi
This time Mike had a cucumber roll and an avocado roll. I ordered a tempura shrimp/avocado crunchy roll and a really spicy yam roll. Both have tempura yam on the outside, which is my absolute favorite. We both enjoyed miso soup and the most amazing house salad, too.

On Sunday night, we headed to Tandoori Knights. This local Indian restaurant just opened about six months ago and there are line-ups at the door practically every night. I love the decor in the restaurant — it’s exotic and well placed. The servers have customer service down to a tee. We’ve been there many times but Sunday was our best meal yet. Mike and I both agreed!

Their food is spiced like no other—amazing spices and it really pours on the heat. Mike has no problem with the extra-bold flavors but I swear I always start sweating at the hairline every time we go there. The food is so hot and spicy…but it tastes sooo good!

Tandoori Chicken

This time we shared tandoori chicken and lamb korma, plus their amazing rice and naan. We’ve eaten tandoori chicken for years but are new to trying the korma. It’s become my new favorite. The sauce is so good you want to use your naan to “lick” the bowl clean.

One of the things I’ve discovered with trying new dishes is if you want to have a culinary adventure, you’ve got to be willing to sample novel combinations. Some of the explorations that have ended up as our favorites were way outside our home cooked meals.

Another thing that I discovered about eating smoking hot dishes is heartburn. I don’t experience it every time we eat spicy foods, but it has happened frequently.  One evening as I perused a menu, I realized I was no longer willing to try some new dishes because I might get heartburn. That kind of divides the fun of going out. Having PEPCID COMPLETE™ in my bag has made me bold again. It works fast—within seconds—by neutralizing the stomach acid that causes heartburn. And it lasts. None of that feeling better before bed, but waking up with an uncomfortable relapse.
