So here’s a little glimpse into my life: Wednesdays are my worst day of the week. Because I have lots of projects underway by mid-week, I end up working very long hours on my laptop — often from 9am on Wednesday to 2am on Thursday. If I’m not careful, I end up feeling so tired. I have a few strategies to ensure that I don’t get rundown including taking four 5 minute breaks throughout the day as well as two 15 minute walks.

But, without a doubt, one of the best things I do to take care of myself on those long days like today is to drink lots of water. But to ensure I get enough, I have found that I need to keep things fun and take my water up a notch – or I start to revert to juices and soft drinks.

1. Raspberry-Lime Essence

1. Raspberry Essence is actually the flavor of sparkling water that is my favorite. I often drink it right out of the bottle. But when I want to feel special – particularly when I have been in my pajamas all day working {LOL – no joke, unfortunately}, I actually amp it up a little by pouring it into a cute glass and adding raspberries and mint. The mint adds a refreshing complement to the raspberry and lime. I like to leave the berries in until the last drop and then scooping them out with a spoon and eating them. They’ve been soaked in all that goodness and taste great.

This is ALSO my go-to mocktail when I am entertaining and don’t have time to think of a signature drink. Guests are always impressed and don’t even notice that it is really straight from a bottle.

2. Cucumber Detox

2. Cucumber Detox: When I am feeling like I need to detox, particularly on a day when I have been drinking a lot of caffeine (it happens), the cucumber detox is my go-to drink. I add in about seven thin slices of English cucumber and let it sit in the fridge for about an hour so that my sparkling water gets nice and cold and it is infused with a light cucumber flavor. The other option I do from time to time is to add a third of an small orange sliced as well. It tastes soooo good.

3. Sun Tea: There are Wednesdays when I cannot survive without caffeine. I don’t love that about myself but it’s a fact. I am trying to cut back on diet sodas and coffee so one of my favorite things to make is Sun Tea. It’s so simple to make. You just add your favorite tea bag and sparkling water, put it in a glass by the window (about 30 mins in the sun), add a little sugar and enjoy!
