The temperature has finally hit brrr on the thermometer! After hurrying out to pick up a few groceries yesterday, I was so ready to be home. Fierce cold and blustery winds make me want to hibernate. More specifically, I’m happy to hang out in my kitchen more than ever. The extra warmth from a busy oven adds a satisfying snugness that doesn’t happen in any other season. It makes me want to wear a bun in my hair, pull up a rocking chair and pull out my knitting…except I don’t knit. Or have a rocking chair. Or wear buns in my hair.

Anyway, while I was out at Walmart, I noticed that Hillshire Farm® Turkey Breast Lunch Meat is back on the deli-meat shelves. It came home with me and I made these turkey and cheddar crescent pinwheels—delicious!

All you need to do is roll out the crescent dough and add the turkey breast lunch meat and cheese. I trimmed the turkey so that it fit together nicely and didn’t overlap. Then I rolled everything up, cut the roll into generous one inch slices and baked according to the crescent dough package instructions. So good and so quick and so easy to make! Since they’re finger food, I think they could easily show up on a party menu too.

After we finished off the plateful of pinwheels I was cleaning up the kitchen. From previous experience, I know the lunch meat container is great to upcycle for leftovers and for tucking into lunch boxes, but Sam wanted this one. I thought he was going to store mini action figures in it but he said it is “truly awesome” for his crayons and “important” papers.

Hillshire Farms Container

Yup, I gave it to him. Every successful business executive needs an upcycled plastic container for holding crayons in his briefcase.
