Easy Dinner Ideas: Pizza Penne

By  | Last Updated:

Since I’m working full-time from home now, you might guess life would seem to slow down some—but it hasn’t. Not yet. I think I’ve had so many ideas on the back burner for so long, now they’re all jumping out yelling, “Me first!”  Factor in that Mike’s work has him away from home during dinner hour most evenings. Imagine how many times I say “Eek—dinner time already?” and you’ll have an idea of how glad I am to be able to quickly get dinner ready for Sam and me.

One Pan Penne Pizza

Sam and I both really enjoy pasta dishes. Our Kroger’s has the relatively new Barilla® Pronto™pasta. It’s in the regular pasta aisle. Have you tried it yet? It’s great! You can fix favorite pasta dishes quicker than ever because you don’t have to wait for the water to boil and you don’t need to drain it. And you can make everything in one pan so clean-up is even easier. Who wouldn’t love that!

All you do is pour the Pronto™ pasta into a pan, cover it with water according to their directions, turn the heat on high and cook it for about ten minutes, stirring occasionally. You can add all sorts of toppings for a variety of tastes.

And in case you’re wondering, Barilla® Pronto™ does have the same great taste as conventional pasta, with “al dente” perfection in minutes. It also comes in five classic shapes: elbows, linguine, penne, rotini, and spaghetti.

This week I used the penne to make Penne Pizza. Sam and I loved it!

  • Cook penne in pan, according to instructions
  • Mix with 1/2 jar Barilla Tomato Sauce

Stephanie is in love with a boy named Sam. He has taught her that it's okay to jump first and look later, to wear a dirty shirt to the park and to decide that today is a good day to take a nap in your rubber boots. She hangs out here blogging at Spaceships and Laser Beams and at our printable party shop on Etsy.
