Bedtime Routine for Kids

By  |

I am an avid reader. Always have been. Even before I could do more than jabber, I’m told I would walk around the house with a book in hand, pretending to read. I blame it all on Mom, who made it a habit to read to me before bedtime every night. I loved all the adventures we went on! It’s a habit I’ve duplicated with my boys. Vocabulary is expanded, imagination is stoked and cuddle time is priceless!

Kid's Bedtime Routine

My guys view reading together as a reward for accomplishing their bedtime have-to-dos.  They always want an evening snack like these yummy Energy Bites and shortly after that it’s time to pick up toys, brush teeth and get ready for bed. etc. Guess I’m fortunate because none of my boys mind brushing their teeth. Fun toothbrushes like the Orajel™ PAW Patrol™  products and kid-friendly toothpastes have made it an easy habit at our house.

Three Bees Book

February 24th is World Read Aloud Day and March is considered National Reading Month. Because of my positive experiences, I’m happy to get the word out about the benefit of reading and ending the day with reading together. Scholastic and Orajel™ are partnering on a campaign called Read2Me Tonight to encourage parents to make reading out loud to their kids and teeth brushing part of the bedtime routine. Scholastic.com/read2me has tons of helpful resources, including a free Scholastic e-book, The Three Bees, a list of the 100 Best Read-Aloud Books, and important articles from editors at Scholastic Parents.

The site also links to the Read2Me Tonight Challenge. Parents can take a photo or video of themselves reading aloud to their kids as part of their bedtime routine for a chance to win all 100 Best Read-Aloud Books, plus a PAW Patrol™ “Brushers Bundle” from Orajel™. Also share that entry on social media to earn an extra chance to win!

Whether or not you win the contest, your kids will love it when you read to them. That’s a win in anybody’s book!
