It’s official: Sam is growing up! Since he loves playing T-ball, he was super excited to have a baseball themed birthday party. It’s been a blast watching Sam and his contemporaries at every age, but being with a group of kids is really something. I swear I think they’re getting smarter—and their expressive faces—and energy—keep you busy and laughing.  Everyone at the party seemed to have fun. Know one of the things that seemed to fascinate them most? The M&M’S® Candy Dispenser…and the candy, of course!

I did a simple concession stand that included cheddar cheese popcorn, peanuts, potato chips and personalized Birthdays. For any party, individual portions of hand-held foods make everything easier for guests. I think that’s especially important at birthday parties. I used store bought containers—white scalloped edge boxes, red and white stripe boxes and mini-pails with a stylized chevron pattern—and made them theme perfect with decals from the Spaceships and Laser Beams Classic Baseball Collection.

Not only do classic pinstripes remind me of baseball uniforms, they look very masculine and they worked well for the table covering.  For the top shelf of the concession display, I made table runners from our baseball themed printable placemats that I customized with our last name. A printable, pennant-style banner fronted the concession table. Pennants also topped the red and white striped straws. Fun!

MY M&M’S has all kind of options for personalizing a party. Everybody likes M&M’S but this was the first time I tried their customized product—great idea! Anything customized for the guest of honor adds a special touch. You can choose from 25 colors, print a message, upload a photo portrait or use one of their clip art options. I used white, yellow and aqua and a few baseball themed phrases. Sam thought it was pretty cool. I think the personalization would work for baby showers, weddings, graduations, and promotions, as well as birthday parties. You can check out some of their amazing ideas at Birthday Idea Gallery.

Besides using the M&M’S on the concession table, I also included packages of the personalized candies in favor bags. I always like to send guests home with a remembrance of the party and sweets seem to be popular with everyone. If you visit you can see all of the packaging choices they offer, which includes bags, tins, boxes, and bowls. And old-fashioned candy dispensers.

Everyone had so much fun taking turns with the M&M’S in the dispenser! All you have to do is twist the knob and the candy tumbles into your hand—no pennies necessary with this model. And I love the cast iron style—it’s adorable!  It’s now become part of the décor in my great room. It’s a perfect reminder of the laughter of mischievous kids!

He has taught her that it's okay to jump first and look later, to wear a dirty shirt to the park and to decide that today is a good day to take a nap in your rubber boots. She hangs out here blogging at Spaceships and Laser Beams and at our printable party shop on Etsy.
