Moustache Baby Shower (Red and Black Theme)

By  |

Facial hair (beards, goatees, and moustaches) is trending for men, which means the popularity of moustache themed parties won’t be dwindling any time soon.

The moustache/little man theme is a trendy choice for milestone first birthday parties and toddler celebrations, but it is a rarity to see a baby shower theme honoring the most controversial of all men’s facial hair choices.

This baby shower by Chelsea of The Alexanders is a great take on the trend. It is a darling illustration of just how fitting the theme can be when welcoming a new little mister.

Pay close attention to the sweet ways the moustaches were used throughout the shower. Invitations, baby shower decorations, and even cupcake party favors.

Other darling baby details that exude a vintage charm make this moustache baby shower one you definitely must see.

Thrown for momma-to-be, Ashley, a friend whose husband is known for frequently sporting facial hair, Chelsea thought it was a fitting touch to incorporate the idea of facial hair into the baby shower theme.

Plus, who doesn’t love a moustache bash or little man theme? It’s such a fun way to set the tone for a more intimate event where guests can “let down their hair”.

Invitations announcing that “a little mister [would] soon be here” were sent out to party guests.

Each invitation included a little moustache prop—such an adorable detail. A shared love for vintage details meant Chelsea packaged the invitations in brown Kraft-colored paper and attached paper doilies and a red yarn embellishment.

To tie the facial hair into the baby shower decorations, Chelsea hung gigantic framed pictures of facial hair (beards and moustaches) on the wall above the fireplace.

It was a nice nod to the baby shower theme and provided a fun focal point.

Another sweet baby shower decoration detail was an overhead garland. Sweet lullaby lyrics were spelled out using die cut letters and were strung across the ceiling amidst a cloud of paper doilies.

An eclectic mix of old and new place setting elements combined to create lovely dining tables featuring the guest of honor’s favorite colors and textures—red, orange, Birch/natural wood.

To add in a vintage flair, doilies where used again as charger.

Chelsea created these simple and budget-friendly place settings using disposable bamboo utensils and compostable plates.

Glassware was a mixed collection purchased from estate sales. The mismatched glasses added to the charm.

To create a more relaxed and intimate affair, the baby shower food was all served family style.

Menu favorites included croissant sandwiches and a salad. Dessert consisted of a drool-worthy buttery pound cake topped with freshly-made blueberry-blackberry sauce. My blueberry cobbler or blackberry cobbler recipe (or both!) would also be great options.

Parting gifts were such a labor of love. Berry crates were tied up with simple “enjoy” party favor tags.

Each berry box contained a handmade, individual-sized cupcake stand and a cupcake for the road. The cupcakes were topped with adorable edible moustaches.
