Golf-themed 6th Birthday Boy Party

By  | Last Updated:

Most boys love to be active so sport themed birthday parties are popular celebrations. When I found this terrific golf-themed party on Chickabug’s website, I wanted to share the great ideas with you.

Danielle, from Living Out Loud, has a son named Noah; Noah has been successfully hitting golf balls since he was two! Danielle had no trouble deciding what theme to use for celebrating his golf-themed 6th birthday boy party. With special cupcakes and cake pops on an Astroturf covered table, clever decorations and plenty of golf supplies, Danielle’’s party ideas are sure to please any aspiring golfer.

Polka dots are always a favorite of mine and the big dots especially work well for a golf party; don’’t they look fun and fresh on the green balloons? Danielle used them like cheerful exclamation points all around the room. The balloons call attention to the favor table backdrop and the splendid green argyle birthday pennant banner. Astroturf and golf paraphernalia on the tables coordinate perfectly.

Danielle used Chickabug’s invitations, party printables, stickers and water bottle labels throughout the party venue to build on her theme. Striped green straws from Project Pretty Studio and white spoons stood at the ready and added to the decorative effect in a ribboned vase. The green-and-white polka dot napkins matched the balloons from Polka Dot Market.

Patterned scrapbook paper stood in for chargers in just the right colors to go with green plates and napkins at every place setting. Each guest also had a green visor decorated with a custom sticker and a tempting golf ball cake pop. In the center of the table, Danielle effectively decorated with scattered golf tees and golf balls in tall glass jars. I really like the arrangement of the golf pennants spelling Noah’s name and age— — nice touch!

The decorations in the centre of the table weren’’t just for show— — they were also a party game! While the guests ate, they tried to guess how many golf tees and balls were on the table. Danielle gave each guest a buffet card which served as their seating card and as a place to write down their answers.

The treats played up the golf theme, too. There were green apple rings; cake pops were displayed in faux grass, with a little sign announcing “holes in one.” Cupcakes were topped with green icing, a mini golf ball and pennant flags with the birthday number 6.

Danielle planned games galore for her son and his guests. They had golf ball relays, where teams had to carry a golf ball across the room and back, first on a golf tee (difficult) and finally on a spoon (doable!).

Then they headed outside for some mini golf relays. When the weather outside was too cold, Danielle improvised once more and moved the putting contests indoors.

Guests also played Pin the Ball on the Green. Danielle kept a tally of the results of each game on a framed blackboard labeled “Leader board” just like at the Masters. Green bubble wands were graciously labelled with flags declaring, ““winner!”” for the top scorers.

Of course the young guests got to take a golf memento home with them at the end of the party. Danielle used charming thank-you tags from Chickabug that say, ““Thanks for playing a round with me”” and “”Thanks for coming to the Par-Tee!”” She tied these with green ribbon onto personalized water bottles filled with green and white gumballs.

Whether they were duffers or scratch golfers, each guest went home feeling like a winner and the birthday boy scored a perfect party!
