Boy’s Half-Birthday Basketball Halftime Party

By  |

Although boys’ basketball birthday parties are a common theme, a more unique version is this boy’s basketball halftime HALF birthday party that Trixy, from A Delicate Gift, and her husband celebrate. When their son was born, the happy parents enjoyed a small cake each month for his first year and then continued the idea by giving him half birthday parties every year, in addition to his real birthday party. This year Trixy decided to pair her son’s half birthday, which occurred during March Madness, with their love of all things basketball. Read on to learn how Trixy used sporty details like varsity letters and pom poms to create a sleek and modern boy’s basketball halftime, half birthday party. The beautiful images were captured by Jessica Torosian Photography.

The blue polka-dot half birthday cake appears to have already been cut, but that leading edge is actually frosting, courtesy of Chickadee Hill Cakes. The VIP centerpiece cake looks awesome under a navy blue varsity letter backdrop. Flanking the cake you’ll see bleacher style serving pieces that Trixy cleverly made using cabinet racks. The bleachers held an assortment of concession stand goodies for guests, such as jelly beans in team colors, halftime cupcakes from Triolo’s bakery, and mini boxes of popcorn sprinkled with M&Ms. Notice how perfectly each of the containers coordinate for an appealing display.

Adorable cookies that look like miniature varsity jackets are stitched with a monogramed “M”, the first letter of the birthday boy’s name. That monogram appears throughout the decorations, including on the chocolate covered Oreo basketballs. Megaphones, poms and pennants add just the right touch.

The concession stand featured mini burgers, fries and beverages that were adorned with custom printable labels. Mini bleachers, the color of a basketball court, were the perfect seats for bottles of sports drinks and pom-pom-topped water bottles. Coordinating straws topped with custom pennant flags were nearby.
