Boys Fireman Themed Birthday Party

By  |

A boy’s fireman birthday party theme is certain to generate excitement in the young gentleman’s club. A fireman’s hat and truck are all that is needed to jump-start a boy’s imagination of heroic deeds. Of course, to make it a real party, there’s got to be a cake to rescue! Angela, of Queen of Tarts, provided a darling example for her son’s 3rd birthday. {Make sure to check out Angela’s shop – you won’t believe how beautiful her cookie art is!} Using cute invitations and a matching envelope from Dimple Prints, Angela was inspired to build a desert table in stripes and polka dots. Cupcakes, favor boxes and decoration supplies all came together to build a beautiful boy birthday party.

Red and white ticking stripes serve as the base for the dessert table. Stripes are also referenced on candy sticks, on favor boxes and on the birthday boy’s name (Dane). Of course the cake, with fire trucks racing ‘round, is the focal point of the display. I love the way Angela used oversized polka dots to top the cake and a smaller version circles the base.

Notice how dots are repeated on cupcake stands, on napkins, on the food tent cards, on candy cups and inside the display boxes too—even some of the cookies and candies have dots! Red and white, with accents of aqua, produce a lighthearted tone; the repeat of stripes and dots produces cohesiveness in the display. The entire effect ends up seeming energetic but with the pattern repeats it’s not frenzied. In addition to the Valrhona chocolate cake with Tahitian vanilla buttercream and marshmallow fondant, the treats included red velvet cupcakes, Oreo cookies and cream cake pops and chocolate covered Oreos—yum!

After Dane blew out his candles, Angela couldn’t find the cake knife; the birthday boy assumed the entire cake was for him! Angela has used one of my favorite combos in the stripes and dots. I think she did a terrific job in building a bright and happy birthday party!
