Barnyard Carnival Birthday {Boy Party Ideas}

By  |

Does a theme for a backyard party sound any more fun that this? Barnyard carnival or Barnival (Love it!). And from looking at all the photos from Margit of Dot and Dash Parties, I can wholeheartedly say that this is one children’s birthday party that I would love to attend. The prize table is every bit awesome and I am loving all that there were even farm animals, a pumpkin patch and tons of farm-themed carnival games. Talk about perfect for the theme. I’m actually terrible at executing party games but with my son getting older, it’s something I am going to try and work on this year. Or hire someone. Any Southwest Ontario-based party planners out there? LOL

Margit has all the party details at the end of the post!

In Margit’s Own Words

Will’s mom wanted to put together a fantastic Fall celebration for her son’s 6th birthday. He wanted both carnival games as well as animals at the party so from this came the “Barnival” theme.

The party featured so many different elements that guest of all ages could find something to entertain them. There were four carnival style games, some with a Fall themed twist. There was the ever popular can knock down, Scarecrow “Hoopla” (a form of ring toss where the children had to throw a hula hoop over the scarecrows), Fly the Coop (Throwing rubber chickens into a basket – anything involving rubber chickens is a hit!) and Feed the Pig, a toss game in which bean bags were thrown into a pigs mouth. The kids loved playing all the games and collecting ticket which were later turned in for prizes at the end of the party.

In addition to the games there was face painting, pumpkin decorating and, of course, the adorable baby animals. Children of all ages loved being able to cuddle and hold the sweet kittens, ducks, bunnies and puppies. There was even a diapered baby goat and a feisty little pig. Barn Babies is a wonderful local company who will bring the animals to your location with staff on hand to make sure they are are treated properly.

The food at the party stayed true to the fall carnival theme. Popcorn was enjoyed throughout the party along with pumpkin marshmallow pops, apple fritters and apple cider. The cake, by Tonia of cakewish, was just perfectly done to bring in all the elements of the party right done to the huge fondant pig on the top!

At the end of the party guests were able to turn in their tickets for various themed prizes and candy including mini tractors, pig snouts, Farm Hands (hand clappers) and Cow tales candies to name of few. The children’s delight of being able to choose their own prizes was one of my favorite parts of this party.

Hands down this was one of the most enjoyable events I have had the chance to work on. The weather was perfect, the guests were delightful and the fun factor could not be beat. I’m hoping the Barnival theme is here to stay!

He has taught her that it's okay to jump first and look later, to wear a dirty shirt to the park and to decide that today is a good day to take a nap in your rubber boots.
