An Avengers Inspired Super Hero Birthday Party

By  |

Are you ready to feast your eyes on something super awesome?  This Avengers-inspired superhero birthday theme that Belinda of Styled By Belle put together for her son’s 3rd birthday may leave you wanting to leap tall buildings in a single bound.

Belinda’s creative skyline dessert table display and pop art inspired backdrop are impressive, but I’m pretty sure you’ll be equally amazed by the gorgeous cake, cupcakes, party favors and activity ideas.

There’s no hiding her super talents captured in photos by Lee Bird Photography.

Belinda’s son, Lucas, is obsessed with The Avengers, Spiderman and all things superhero.

There was no doubt in her mind that an Avengers inspired superhero birthday was the perfect party theme for her son.

Putting her party styling powers to the test, Belinda came up with an absolutely brilliant idea for her dessert table: she recruited the super building skills of her father.

Wooden plinths were painted in black chalkboard paint; Belinda added chalk windows and voilà, a city skyline was born. Belinda used the varying heights of the buildings as her “tabletop” for displaying beautiful desserts.

The visual effect of the skyscrapers against the pop art inspired backdrop really wowed. Sweet Scarlet Designs worked her magic with the printable elements of the party, including the vibrant sign in red, aqua and black.

Keeping with the pop art style, the 3-tiered cake by Sweet Tiers was decked out in pop art polka dots, edible imagery of Avenger cartoon comics and a skyscraper skyline.

Sweet Tiers also made edible “Lucas” and “3” super hero themed star cookie toppers.  If the cake wasn’t jaw dropping enough, the Captain America shield macarons by Macarahrah may render you speechless–so much detail on a little cookie.

Cupcake Occasion’s Avenger cake pops have me impressed. Do you spy Thor and Captain America?

Super “jellies” with little red superhero capes fastened to them are perched adorably on their skyscraper stand. And we mustn’t forget the cupcakes with coordinating printable cupcake toppers or the Captain America candy tubes.

This dessert table surely left nothing to be desired.

Because a super hero dessert station often includes an amazing amount of treats, there were also some pretty awesome sugar cookies from Dessert Menu, Please.

It’s a toss-up which ones I like most: the masks with eye holes sized to fit 3 yr. old faces, the “pow” speech bubble cookies or the comic book cookies with “Super Lucas” frosted on them?

Did you notice the “Power Bars”?  I love the pop art printable candy bar wrappers! Little details have such a big impact!

Ever wondered how super heroes dine?  They dine in style, of course.

I love how Belinda set blue ghost chairs to pop against tables draped in black tablecloths.  Each place setting included an Avenger coloring book, colorful “power juice” wrapped in printable wrappers and a super hero mask.

Glasses filled with colorful veggies lined the center of the table.

Because it’s important to Belinda to offer fresh and wholesome foods, she had a “Power Foods” station set up where guests could choose nutritious nibbles to grow healthy and strong. Fruit kabobs, veggies and cheese were some of the options.

Even super heroes get thirsty, and a beverage station with “Invisible H20” and other refreshing selections was prepped and ready. I adore the party straws with printable super hero flags.

Once the food was eaten, Belinda moved all the cake stands and there was a perfect superhero photo booth. I love that the amazing skyline dessert station was re-purposed into an interactive area where the kids could climb atop the “buildings” and act out their superhero dreams.

Belinda knows the importance of keeping little guests occupied.  In addition to the skyline photo booth area, she set up several super hero inspired activity stations.

She had “Shoot the Baddies” where kids used a Nerf gun to shoot at tin cans that were wrapped with images of villains.

Another station was “Hulk Smash” where the kids smashed up wafer ice cream cones with giant Hulk fist gloves.

“Pin the Star on Captain America’s Shield” and “Spider Web Attack” were a couple of the other well-loved activities.

Super favors were handed out for all the little Avengers.  Custom made superhero cartons were filled to the brim with prizes to help them hone their super skills.  There were Avengers coloring books, superhero masks and even some sweet treats.

I am sure it was a super day for a super boy.
