A Miles from Tomorrowland Inspired Boy’s Birthday Party

By  |

This boy’s birthday party by professional party planner Michele Mann, of Sugar Lagoon, was an out-of-this-world celebration! Ideas from Miles from Tomorrowland inspired the theme for one special six-year-old obsessed with the Disney show.

Michele’s mission to throw an incredible party was accomplished by teaming up with some pretty stellar dessert artists who filled an impressive dessert table with birthday cake, cupcakes, cookies and other sweet treats, too!

To create that outer space feel, Michele designed a dessert table around a Miles from Tomorrowland scene setter hung on the wall. The guest of honor’s name “Ethan” was prominently displayed across the table as a centerpiece, made from 3-D letters that Michele painted, reminiscent of the cartoon characters.  They look awesome!

First, let’s talk about that super stellar cake by Sugar Pearl Bakery. I can’t get over the three tiers of space-inspired awesomeness with the most incredible fondant detailing!  I’m not sure I could bring myself to cut into it.  Could you?

Next, Custom Cookies by Jill brought the characters to life.  I love the hexagonal shape and how Michele displayed them on a bed of Sixlets to show them off.

The “blast-astic” and “Watson & Crick” chocolate covered Oreos are another dessert table favorite of mine!

Creatively decorated desserts are one of my most loved ways of tying a party theme together.

Additional clever desserts included the guest of honor’s favorite “sand creature” chocolate cupcakes.

Wondering what Miles might drink in his universe?  At this party, “rocket fuel” was the beverage of choice.  How fun!

Guests dined at a hexagon shaped table that looked perfect for this theme.  It was a DIY table overlay project Michele made using sturdy plywood, spray painted foam core set atop a regular child-sized table.  I love the futuristic look Michele gave to the table settings, mixing orange and neon green tableware.

For entertainment at this new age party, guests enjoyed a bounce house and “blastboard” (skateboard) racing. I can’t imagine any complaints with such fun activities!

Michele carried the hexagon patterns into the party favor designs, too.  Hexagon boxes were filled with trading cards, glow gum, a character sugar cookie, a character toy and stellar shades. What a fun take home gift to remember an out-of-this-world party!

I bet the guests never wanted to return to earth—what a cool theme built on one lucky little boy’s favorite TV show!
