A Jurassic World Inspired Dinosaur Party

By  |

To celebrate the world movie premiere of Jurassic World, this dinosaur party full of prehistoric props, party treats and favors was planned by professional party planner, Kameela Lewis, of Tutus & Bowties.

You’ll love the larger than life photos captured by Anetrius Wallace Photography inside the Natural Science Museum of Houston, which provided the perfect backdrop for Kameela’s party.

With her little paleontology-loving children on summer break, Kameela was looking for a way to keep them entertained.

Seeing the new Jurassic World movie was high on their summer bucket list, and she decided to capitalize on the hype by creating a dinosaur party her kids would dig.

Setting up in the Natural Science Museum of Houston was the perfect choice.  How many people do you know that get to use a life-sized T-Rex as their dinosaur inspired dessert table backdrop?  What an awesome prop!

Kameela enlisted the help of talented graphic designer Beth Kruse, of Beth Kruse Custom Creations, to create dinosaur themed printables and a dinosaur invitation.

I love the creative invitations which resemble a movie ticket and surely got guests excited about the dinosaur party.

Upon arriving at the museum, guests were presented with “VIP Access” passes to wear around their necks.  The passes even included official barcodes for scanning.  How cool!

An impressive dessert table was staged within view of the museum’s dinosaur giant.  Kameela set up her sweets on a large metal table, layering smoky shades of grey and vibrant blue fabric runners as her base.

From the front of the table, she hung festive black tissue tassel garland.  A puddle of colorful blue, silver and white balloons paired with black and blue honeycomb balls added eye-catching style to the floor.

This is a nice addition, especially when a full tablecloth is not being used.  Oversized galvanized metal letters made a statement on the table top.  These paired nicely with dinosaur figures that Kameela spray painted to coordinate.

With the focus on dinosaurs and an unencumbered, natural habitat, I love that Kameela chose a beautiful naked cake as her dessert table centerpiece.
