Toy Story Party Idea For Boys

By  | Last Updated:

A boy’s Toy Story birthday party theme is an especially fun celebration to put together because there are so many great colors and toys to feature. How terrific when you can shop for props from your very own home!  When Michelle, from Michelle’s Party-Plan-It, started styling this colorful party for her son Liam, she did just that.  You’ll love how she incorporated favorite Toy Story pieces from her three sons’ collections. Michelle combined her finds with printable decorations and several details from the movie that she recreated in clever ways.  From a sweet treat dessert table to creative favors, this party has it all!

Michelle designed the printables for this Toy Story birthday party*. I love how she captured so many of the iconic details of the movie that little guests would clearly notice. From the recognizable clouds from Andy’s room to the fun Woody quote to the crayon font used for Liam’s name, the details were spot on (doesn’t the crayon font look just like the writing on Woody’s boot, spelling out Andy’s name?).  In addition to the backdrop, Michelle designed Woody and Jessie hat stickers to embellish candy containers, custom stickers for the pizza boxes, cupcake toppers, food tent cards, a welcome sign, favor bag toppers and tags, and even a Buzz Lightyear inspired candy bar wrapper! It’s amazing what printables can do to reinforce a party theme!

The dessert table looks fantastic!  Cow print table runners and a coordinating bandana garland add fun pops of color and tie in with favorite characters from the movie.  Would you believe Michelle accomplished all of that for only $4? Are you inspired?!

Michelle put her Silhouette machine to work recreating many other theme specific details.  There were red monkeys hanging from an apothecary jar of banana Runts candy, Pizza Planet boxes with homemade “pizza” cookies and even cute cloud boxes.

The dessert table was filled with enough treats to last to infinity and beyond! Apothecary jars held bright candy in assorted flavors; each had a movie inspired treat.  There were green army men gumballs, buttercup unicorn horns, Sunnyside Daycare rainbow skittles and Twizzlers, red “Sid” gumballs, Big Baby’s bottles, and Woody gumballs.

I love how simple embellishments reminiscent of the movie characters were added to each jar. Notice Sid’s t-shirt plus Woody and Jessie’s bandanas.

Stacks of Buzz Lightyear wrapped candy bars and moving boxes (Pick Your Plum) appropriately labeled “Sunnyside”, “College” and “Attic” were perfect holders for cupcakes topped with toy inspired toppers!

Influenced by pig cupcakes on, Michelle baked her own Hamm cupcakes.  Aren’t they so cute?

Michelle also made alien marshmallow pops using lime green candy melts and candy eyes.

My favorite treat was the chocolate pudding boot cups (Oriental Trading Co.) with edible gummy worm “snakes”.  There really is a snake in Woody’s boot!

Michelle even embellished large lime colored ice cream cups with alien faces to serve popcorn. There was something for everyone on this dessert table!

Well-planned activities add to any party theme and Michelle had a slew of fun things for guests to do. One of my favorite ideas involved decorating Mr. and Mrs. Potato Head cereal treats.  Using silicone molds, Michelle pre-made chocolate lips, bows, hats and mustaches that guests could pair with marshmallow ears, sour ball noses and non-edible eyes to give personality to their characters. Other activities included posing in the photo booth, playing cowboy dress up with bandanas and sheriff badges from Oriental Trading Co, and “Put the Eye on the Alien”.

Guests were thanked “to infinity and beyond” for coming to the party with bubble gum “astro” blasters, green army men, kaleidoscope rockets and even piggy banks painted “Hamm” pink.  Bet the kids were over the moon excited!

What a super party! Michelle’s celebrations are always a treat to look at because of her incredible attention to details. If you love Michelle’s styling as much as we do, you’ll want to also check out her son’s 4th birthday!
