A Boy’s Space Invader Video Game Party

By  | Last Updated:

This boy’s first birthday Space Invader video game party is full of out-of-this world ideas that are especially cool for those of us who grew up playing the game! A classic video game that gave rise to gaming as we now know it definitely made for an exciting theme choice.  Guests were able to celebrate in old school fashion with alien themed cupcakes, a video game joystick cake and other game specific details incorporated into the decorations. Liezl Del Castillo, of Zelicous did a stellar job executing the details of this party for her little godson.

One of the details that immediately caught my eye is the alien dessert table backdrop.  I felt drawn into a colorful version of the Space Invaders game. Not only does the backdrop signage identify the theme, but it also highlights the guest of honor’s name.  I love personalized touches such as this.

White platters and cake stands were layered on a black tablecloth with colorful treats and I’m sure that caught the attention of the party goers.  Some of my favorite dessert table sweets included the Space Invader cupcakes with edible aliens on top, the personalized chocolate, the joy stick cake, chocolate mousse and delicious looking macarons from Bella Sweets and cake pops.  Customized treat labels and party flags added to the high impact details.

Balloons are a party staple, but I REALLY like the clever use of balloons in this video game party!  Katherine, of Shivoo Balloons, put together a fun photo backdrop using balloons to create a game screenshot look, complete with balloon aliens.  Little clusters of alien embellished balloons also dressed up the party space, helping to tie all of the elements of the event together.

Curious about party activities?  There was an old school arcade with games that both children and adults could play; such a perfect activity for an old school video game themed event!
