Kristin wanted a unique feel for her son, Chase, and his 3rd birthday party.

She chose to veer away from the traditional red and blue train party color scheme, favoring a navy and green palette instead, to coordinate with the party space.

I love this unique take on a classic theme!

In preparation for the big day, Kristin dressed her little guy in train conductor overalls and had him photographed at the local tracks.

I adore how Kristin incorporated the photos from CapturedNH, into her party décor.

Oversized images were framed and displayed above the fireplace mantle—a great tribute to the guest of honor.

The area was made even more impressive with a simple printable party banner and accent lanterns.

What really set this space apart, however, was the way in which Kristin converted her fireplace into a realistic looking train tunnel: she purchased a stock image from iStock and blew it up to fit her fireplace space.

How cool is that?

Guests were greeted with festive décor on their way to the front door.

A directional sign pointing guests towards tickets, games and snacks, used vinyl designs.

Closer to the front door, a potted plant boasted a preppy party logo with iconic train detailing.  Right at the front door, guests were greeted with a bright green sign, customized with “Platform 3”.

Once guests were officially aboard the Chase Express, the immaculate party details were evident.

Set up like a train station, Kristin established clear party spaces, including a ticket station, loading platform and even baggage claim.

Another example of how Kristin used home décor to fit with the theme is the styling of her “ticket station” beneath the Union Station clock.

Vinyl “tickets” decal made the setup look even more authentic.

In order to gain access to the train, Kristin created a special memory book for guests to sign.  Once signed, it was “all aboard” time.

Notice the adorable themed props and décor which made this ticket station so cute.

Kristin designed all of the printable party décor, including the oversized backdrop above the dessert table.

I love how important details were cleverly woven into the banner, such as the birthday boy’s name “Chase” and his age: 3.

The dessert table was full of darling train inspired treats.

The most eye-catching was the phenomenal cake by Chicakdee Hill Cakes; it was made to match the party invitation.

Don’t you love the little 3-D engine chugging along the tracks?  So sweet.

Another gorgeous dessert was the macarons from Triolos Bakery.  Macarons are one of those specialty desserts that people really seem to love.

They were displayed so sweetly in perfect towers on milk glass stands.

Don’t you adore the vintage suitcases which added height to the table?

Don’t miss the polka dotted cups of blueberries.  It’s always nice to see a healthy alternative to all of the sugar.

Wondering what little engineers drink at a train themed birthday party?  Why, “diesel fuel” of course!  Even the water bottles were outfitted in proper attire.

The printable labels look impressive with diagonal stripes.

Baggage Claim was set up inside a large wall unit.  Gable boxes were a perfect fit and were dolled up with printables from Kristin’s shop.

Guests received train whistles and engineer hats.

Janette Design also printed the Baggage Claim sign which was a wonderful addition to the space.  Guests received muslin bags filled with sidewalk chalk, custom printed by The Purple Pug.

Near the baggage claim area, Kristin displayed an impressive 6 ft. long train decal on her wall, the No. 3 Chase Express, to be exact.

After the party, it served as décor for her son’s play area.

Additionally, Janette Design created a wonderful train destination list highlighting some of the places Kristin and her husband would like to take Chase in the coming year.

What a clever idea for a sign!
