Products We’re Loving: For the Bathroom

By  | Last Updated:

Have you ever set out to do a simple two-minute task and fallen down a rabbit hole, only to emerge two hours later with a basket of Easter eggs? Please tell me I’m not the only one.

You see, I got a sleek, new toothbrush (the Philips Sonicare FlexCare Platinum Connected, which I love) and when I went to put it in my bathroom I noticed I needed to spruce things up in there.

We’ve been slowing painting, renovating and updating the 1970s home we moved into last May. The main bathroom is “fine” so it is much lower on our list to be touched. But it looks like it belongs in a rental. There’s no character in there at all right now.

So, I thought to myself, “How can I bring this beautiful, sleek new toothbrush into this Plain Jane bathroom?”

And that’s where the rabbit hole began.

Succulents

I added a few fresh, white accessories as well as some succulents in white vases and white and blue Turkish cotton hand towels with a gorgeous fringe at the bottom…

…which inspired me to tidy the cabinet… which led to Sam and me finding Mike’s shaving cream…which reminded me of a new Easter egg dyeing technique I wanted us to try so I can do a post in early April.

Shaving Cream Easter Eggs

So we did.

In a small bowl, we mixed foam shaving cream with some food coloring I had in the kitchen. We then dropped hard boiled eggs into the shaving cream mixture and let them sit and have the dyes absorb. As we played around, we found that the cheap food coloring you buy at the grocery store works way better than the gel food coloring. It also works better if you swirl the food coloring instead of completely mixing it in.

Dying Easter Eggs with Shaving Cream

Although we had mixed results (and some Pinterest fails), I’ll keep you updated on the best technique. But we now feel ready for when Easter comes.

And it all started with my new toothbrush.

Sonicare

You’re wondering what kind of toothbrush causes such inspiration? It’s the Philips Sonicare FlexCare Platinum Connected. It’s so cool. It’s smart brushing with superior results because it comes with Bluetooth wireless technology that acts like your personal oral hygiene coach.

That means no more sore gums or splayed brush heads from pressing too hard and no missed spots since the technology tracks location, pressure, and brushing technique. You customize the task with variable brushing modes and levels of intensity plus FlexCare Platinum Connected gives you feedback while you’re brushing.

Bathroom Updates

It also features what they call an AdaptiveClean Brush Head that has flexible, rubberized sides. It’s amazing how comfortable the gel cushion makes brushing—no more accidently clunking your teeth and hoping you didn’t chip something!

The end result is deep cleaning that removes surface stains for bright and polished teeth…and a basket full of really cool, richly colored Easter eggs.

Philips Sonicare Electric Toothbrush

You can find Philips Sonicare FlexCare Platinum Connected at major retailers like Amazon, Best Buy, London Drugs, Shoppers Drug Mart, and Walmart. The suggested retail price is $199.99.

Stephanie Keeping

Stephanie is in love with a boy named Sam. He has taught her that it’s okay to jump first and look later, to wear a dirty shirt to the park and to decide that today is a good day to take a nap in your rubber boots. She hangs out here blogging at Spaceships and Laser Beams and at our printable party shop on Etsy.
