When you burn the candle at both ends, I’ve discovered you really ought to drink more water to put out the fire! Staying hydrated can make the difference between being able to function with focus and plowing through the day in a haze.

How to Drink 8 Glasses of Water a Day

Between family, freelance work and this blog, my days are frequently long. To go the distance, this year I’m making more healthy food choices and I’m trying to drink more water. I’m doing moderate exercise and I’m attempting to get to bed a little earlier (that’s still my greatest quest!). Downing a glass of water should be one of the easiest things to do—but I don’t always remember to keep drinking. I know I’m not the only one with this challenge because lots of people (millions, according to one report I read) end up in the hospital every year because of dehydration. Our bodies are 60% water so drinking enough is really a big deal.

Drip Drop Hydration

During a recent shopping excursion I ran into the local CVS and discovered a new product in the baby aisle. It’s called DripDrop. It might be my new best friend. It’s a powder (FDA approved) that hydrates 34% more effectively than plain water. It has 2-3 times more electrolytes than sport drinks and none of the caffeine or stimulants that the energy drinks usually contain. It’s considered safe for kids over a year old, adults and seniors. The lemon or berry flavors come in convenient packets so you can easily add it to a glass of water. I’ve found you can add it to your water bottle and it’s good for about 6 hours—or 24 hours if you keep it refrigerated.

I am convinced that most of us would benefit from drinking more water. Want to establish the habit? This free printable will help keep track of how many glasses of water you and your family are drinking. If you’d like to try DripDrop, too, you can use this $1.00 off coupon through 2/21/15, while supplies last.

Here’s to less brain fog and our good health: bottoms up!
