All three of my boys are excited about back-to-school this year, even though the two youngest haven’t even gone to school before! The two littles have had informal lessons but this year we’ll be following a planned curriculum for Zane, our four-year-old. He is quite eager to start lessons and feels very grown-up because of it. I heard him smugly tell his three-year-old brother, “You’re too young for school.” Of course Shay strongly disagrees! I downloaded the new digital book app from Dr. Seuss Green Eggs and Ham – Read & Learn this week. I’ve got to say that Shay is right: he isn’t too young. Both boys LOVE this new app!

Reading App

We’re on the go a lot, so I downloaded the app on my phone so the boys can enjoy it wherever we go. They took turns holding my phone and clicking the arrow to go to the next page—they really enjoyed it! There are over 30 learning activities hidden throughout the app. Kids can tilt, drag and tap your device to find playful surprises hidden throughout the book. The fun activities help with phonics, rhyming, spelling and reading comprehension. And if you have two kids like I do, it helps them learn to share! They can read along with highlighted narration, or read it themselves. This was designed especially for beginning readers from three to six and the animations really captured my boys’ attention. Kids, parents and education experts helped design these activities. I think they did a stellar job.

I definitely recommend this app!  Dr. Seuss: “Green Eggs and Ham – Read & Learn” app is available on iOS for iPad and iPhone from the Apple App store—and it only costs $4.99! “The Cat in the Hat” was released earlier this summer and you can look for more apps in this series in time for the holiday season. I know I will be!
