Do you have a boy in your life who loves critters of the creeping, crawling and slithering kind?
What better idea to celebrate than with a boy’s reptile themed birthday party?!
Nora planned an incredible reptile party complete with an ice cream bar for her stepson’s 8th birthday.
Critter inspired cookie favors, a snake show and loads of rustic swamp-like decorations may make your skin crawl–in a totally awesome way.

To create the woodland meets swamp-like party atmosphere she desired, Nora mixed a variety of creepy crawly critters with house plants and artificial plants.
Canvas sheets were used as the backdrop and table covering.
They provided a great backdrop for building an awesome ice cream and dessert bar.
I think the combination of rocks, foliage and critters definitely gave off a swamp vibe.
I love the DIY paper mache #8 — a great personalized touch to remind guests of Aden’s new age!
When the weather report indicated 100 degree temperatures for the party day, Nora chose to host an ice cream bar in lieu of the traditional candy and dessert buffet.
Using wood crates and trays to give dimension and a nod to the woodland feel to the table, tin pails and small boxes were stacked on top.
An assortment of yummy toppings was easily accessible to hungry party guests.
There were gummy worms, “dirt” Oreos, M&Ms, nuts, sprinkles, cherries and even caramel and chocolate sauce.
Guests could choose between chocolate and vanilla ice cream served in mason jars tied up in twine for a rustic-woodsy look.
For the cake, Nora wanted something dirt inspired with a creepy snake and chalkboard initial detailing.
I’d say Denby, from Peace.Love.Sugar, nailed the design request, what an awesome addition.
Custom cookies looked amazing on the table, individually wrapped for guests to eat on the spot or take home.
The creepy little critters detailed with icing are pretty cool.
I could convince myself to eat frosting critters!
Kraft paper bags were decorated with washi tape and made the perfect packing to hold the candy favors and custom decorated cookies.
Simple and sweet, but still perfect theme coordination.
Nora arranged for a local snake keeper to entertain guests with a snake demonstration.
The kids were over the moon excited about seeing the variety of real snakes up-close and personal.
The thought of up-close and personal snakes makes my skin crawl but thats just the kind of thing a group of 8-year-old boys would love.
Nora definitely pulled off an awesome boy’s reptile party.
