Wanting to take a vintage spin on the tractor and farm birthday party theme, reader Toni Kruckeberg was on a mission to make her party different than the typical yellow and green variety more readily found on the internet. When their son was born, Toni’s husband chose the theme idea and she immediately started planning his tractor on the farm first birthday party.
When you veer from what’s commonly available, it means you may need to create the decorations, invitations and birthday cake and party games yourself. Using the red Farmall tractor as inspiration and a focal point, Toni set out to make a darling first birthday party for her little boy.
Vintage inspiration and darling details can be found in this spectacular vintage farm table birthday.
The rag strip bunting over the dessert table pulled all of the theme colors and patterns together; Toni included the same tractor patterns used for the table toppers plus the trendy red and white chevron perfectly matched the treat bags.
The dessert table looked precious with the bunting, colorful balloons, treats and cupcakes displayed on wooden crates and in candy dishes. Can you believe the adorable cake was Toni’s first attempt at making a decorative cake?!
And of course, there was a smash cake for her son’s first birthday too.
Guest tables were countrified with colorful bandanas and several styles of vintage tractors and floating balloons added to the party atmosphere. Individual candy cups were filled with a variety of popcorn snacks.
To amuse the little ones, Toni set out punch balloons, tractor coloring pages and bubbles, which she embellished with tractor stickers.
Toni created a sweet “Happy First Birthday” banner to decorate the party space. I love how it tied in the bandana colors and vintage feel of the party.
A lovely array of food was displayed for feasting, including fruit and veggies, pretzels, chips and even a “tractor wheel” macaroni salad.
It’s great when the food choices appeal to both children and adults. Notice Toni found a perfect red tractor fabric to use for the table topper!
A darling beverage station was set up with lemonade “tractor fuel”. Red and yellow striped paper straws added a colorful punch.
A rustic crate displayed homemade jam (go Toni!) in fabric topped jars for each family to take home. I love thoughtful, handmade touches such as these that really show guests how much you appreciate their presence at your celebration.
Guests were thanked for “plowing by” and encouraged to fill up the chevron bags with sweet treats. The printable sign in the framed stand not only let guests know to help themselves, it was another good way to repeat party colors.
A first birthday party is always special for a mom. It’s even more satisfying when you’ve been day dreaming and preparing for it during those first few busy months. Kudos, Toni!
