This charming Peter Pan birthday party theme was a natural choice for mom Kristy DeMasters; Peter Pan and his crew have captured her little guy’s imagination.
When your child loves a special toy, character or movie, take note. Like Kristy, you might have discovered the perfect birthday party idea.
Precious details were carefully woven into the decorations, menu and even the games and party favors. You will love seeing how Kristy creatively tied in the Peter Pan theme.

Guests were immediately immersed in the Peter Pan story with a backyard welcome into “the Darling Nursery” (the classic tale of Peter Pan starts and ends in the playroom/bedroom).
Kristy’s welcoming table display included a small bed, a curtained “window” and framed photos of Peter Pan characters.
Sweet, classic children’s toys, like blocks, teddy bears, and a rocking chair, helped set the nursery scene. Children could choose to wear Peter Pan hats that Kristy sewed, or gossamer fairy wings.
Promising goodies to come, the front of the table was decorated in DIY treat bags strung on twine. I love the clever red feather accent on the green bags — doesn’t it remind you of Peter’s hat?!
From the nursery, guests were directed to Neverland via a handmade set of directional signs. Notice all of the locations referenced from the story “Skull Rock, The Lost Boys” Hideout and so on — a great way to ramp up kid curiosity and anticipation.
In Neverland, Kristy kept guests entertained by setting up a variety of activity stations. There was a galvanized tin full of sand and treasures such as necklaces, eye patches and chocolate coins. Guests got to dig for the buried treasure; so fun!
An adorable black and white striped teepee was set up as the Indian camp. Kids love cozy “hiding” spots.
The next station — a photo booth — is my personal favorite. A chest full of adorable Peter Pan inspired costumes was displayed so kids could “dress the part”. Leslie Waters Photography was on hand to snap photos of the guests in their favorite garb.
Not only did Leslie send a printed photo strip home with each guest, but she also provided Kristy with a duplicate copy to create a keepsake for her son, Warner.
Next up was “walk the plank”. Created from a board and an inflatable pool, this activity was a guest favorite.
Finally, guests got to take a swing at the pirate ship piñata. What a great roundup of exciting Peter Pan themed activities!
You can see why Kristy’s personal favorite part of this 4th birthday party was the dining table set up; it is darling!
Made from pallets, Kristy covered the table with a burlap runner, accented with colorful place settings. Seating was by way of tree stumps, which I also love.
The creative menu included: “Second star to the right sandwiches”; “Tinkerbelle fairy wands” (chocolate covered pretzels)…
…and Tiger Lily’s teepees.
There were also Mr. Smee cannon balls (donut holes), a gorgeous Peter Pan inspired cake, and Lost Boys’ trail mix.
Guests didn’t leave this magical party empty handed. In addition to the costume pieces, found treasures and treats, Kristy prepared mini glass bottles that contained either maps of Neverland or pixie dust from Tinkerbelle.
What a magical theme for one lucky little 4-year-old! Kristy proves the Peter Pan party theme can offer ample opportunities to transport young guests to a special island of imaginative play.
I bet guests didn’t want to go home!
