Never Think About What to Make for Dinner for the Next Two Months with My Lazy Cooking Bundle
Say cheese! Capture the memories and celebrate with these camera-themed ideas for a boy’s first birthday party styled and photographed by Kristy, of The Life and Times.
For her son’s first birthday, she planned a “one year old in a flash!” party using pictures, camera, film and flashes as decorations on the wall, on the cake and on the table.
I love the way the theme of this party allowed Kristy to feature lots of pictures of Campbell.

Kristy set the stage for her party by hanging a clever camera welcome sign right on the front door.
A large black, vintage milk can, a vintage camera and a couple of picture frames perfectly represented the party theme to greet guests as they arrived.
Inside, Kristy added a variety of photography décor, including vintage cameras and photographs. She did a great job choosing props to create the look and atmosphere she wanted for Campbell’s party.
A witty chalkboard full of camera style drawings commands attention over the fireplace mantel and the picture garland is a good way to display special moments from Campbell’s first year.
Additional chalkboard signs complemented the décor. One asked “My oh my, how time does fly! How could one year have already gone by?” The other documented Campbell’s age in months, days, and hours.
I love it when existing décor and theme colors coordinate so well; the red, black and white party colors look wonderful in Kristy’s red-and-white dining room.
Did you notice the awesome texture choices Kristy used?
Throughout the venue she mixed metal, wood, and baskets. There’s also sparkling glass plus paper confetti garland, which looks great with the polka-dotted paper table runner.
The dining table holds a trio of pedestals with arrangements of antique cameras, photos of Campbell, and film strips. Mason jars are a terrific way to display even more pictures of Campbell.
These simple touches created a trendy vintage/industrial look.
On the dessert buffet, Kristy used a wood crate to feature the cake. Isn’t that mini camera topper and pennant bunting darling?! The smash cake carries the birthday boy’s initial and coordinates with the main dessert.
Brown paper popcorn bags were even stamped with camera images. Favors for the party included precious themed sugar cookies.
Celebrating a first birthday is always special; including a pictorial collection of baby’s significant moments is a fun way to include guests in the memorable milestones.
Adding the vintage camera vibe to the entire package? Priceless!
