Using camping themed printables from Forever Your Prints, “Camp Michael” was established with a colorful banner fastened between two trees.
I love that this party was actually in the great outdoors.
Elizabeth did an amazing job using what was already available to her at the site where she and her husband had taken their three boys to camp.
Did I mention she was also pregnant with #4? I’m impressed! She created a fabulous rustic refreshment table.
An old picnic table was covered in burlap fabric and an eclectic mix of rustic and modern trays, baskets, and various serving ware was used to display some pretty fantastic treats.
An old fishing tackle box made the perfect display piece for gummy “fish bait”.
How perfect are the dirt cups made simply from store bought pudding cups, crushed cookies and gummy worms?
The camping themed printable food labels and toy critters are a cute addition to the table.
I always appreciate the details of an impressive sugar cookie, but check out the entire tin tray of cookies by the talented Katie from Katie’s Creative Baking.
Which sugar cookie shape is your favorite?
I’m really loving the detail on the compass and “camp Michael” cookies.
Homemade treats get extra party planning bonus points in my book. Check out the individual rolls of homemade fruit leather rolled up in baking paper and tied up with twine.
Granola bars are an iconic camping themed snack, and look perfect lined up on a snack tray. Can you believe Elizabeth made both of these treats?
Other great snacks include the pretzel rod kindling and “campfire flames” cheese puffs which, in a stroke of genius, were served up in a portable barbecue grill.
Sweet woodland themed lollipop suckers looked adorable popping out of moss-covered logs.
But most enticing of all were the S’mores cupcakes with coordinating, printable party logos and cupcake wrappers.
If all of the deliciousness just described wasn’t enough, Elizabeth also set up a “take a hike trail mix bar” full of yummy fixins’ and a s’mores bar.
Kids could choose between filling up take out boxes with their favorite trail mix combinations and/or roast marshmallows to build the perfect s’more.
S’more fun was to be had with all of the great activities Elizabeth had arranged.
From a camping scavenger hunt (which can be downloaded free here), to painting bird houses, to decorating wood necklaces and favor bags to working on activity booklets, these kids had many options to save them from boredom.
Lunch was creatively served hobo style in bandanas on a stick and included a sandwich, pretzels and a small apple.
Party favors are always fun, and Elizabeth set up a really cute “Don”t feed the bears” vignette using stuffed bears and a picnic basket. I bet guests loved choosing their bear to take home.
What an unbelievably fun camping birthday party! If you’re looking for more behind-the-scenes details including the party plan and recipe, Elizabeth is sharing those details here.
