Guests were treated to a sweet display of book themed decorations to honor the new little bookworm-to-be.
A cute “Baby Barber” banner paired perfectly with a pennant style bunting made from book pages. Believe it or not, most of the darling décor elements were gathered from things they already owned.
Children’s books, jars filled with bright flowers, a vintage chair, a shelf, and chalkboards were styled to create pleasing vignettes around the party space.
I love how the chalkboard was utilized as a book-style table of contents with chapter headings like “Daughter or Son?” and “Pink or Blue?”.
In preparation for the great reveal, guests were invited to make a guess on which gender they thought the baby would be.
They made their votes by placing a personalized bookmark in a childrens book and putting it on the bookshelf marked with a “B” for boy or a “G” for girl.
Isn’t that such a creative way to get your party guests involved in making a gender prediction?
When the voting was finished, guesses were split evenly down the middle!
My favorite detail from this party was the way Roberta and Bobby chose to share the news with guests: they created an adorable board book whose story revealed the baby’s gender!

Mini versions were created for family and friends using blank 5×5 board books.
The books were tied with yellow ribbon and an attached poem and then displayed in a basket until it was time for the reveal.
Guests read along with Roberta and Bobby during the reveal (surprise it’s a boy!) and then kept the books as a treasured keepsake.
The delicious brunch menu included a French toast bake, crockpot egg casserole, hash browns, fresh fruit and muffins.
A few sweet offerings were also provided, including cookies and cute cups of popcorn snack mix.
Notice the ingenious book-inspired labels by the edibles. My favorite? If You Give a Mouse a Cookie–by the cookies of course–so clever!
A mimosa bar was available for guests who wanted an adult beverage.
