Rosemary Orange Chocolate Chip Cookie Recipe + Kitchenaid Mixer Giveaway

By  |

Tis the season for baking chocolate chip cookies! I love taking time in the kitchen with Sam, who is a fantastic little helper. One our favorite things to do as the weather turns cold is to spend time creating yummy and warm treats to share. Sam doesn’t like candy, but he loves a good cookie. One of our favorites to make is chocolate chip cookies, which we love to package and give them away as Christmas gifts as well! Who doesn’t love to receive cookies after all? This time I decided to mix up our traditional chocolate chip recipe with a rosemary and orange version.

I am a bit unpredictable in the kitchen. I hate following recipes by the book. I like to freelance. A pinch of this, a touch of that, sprinkle in some more and taste all along the way is usually my mode of action. But when it comes to baking, I am trying to be more deliberate in order to be able to pass along some of my favorite recipes. This particular cookie recipe came about in my head the other day because I have had some fresh rosemary in the fridge and I wanted to use it before it went bad. I love herb and citrus flavors in baked goods so I thought adding in chocolate would be a logical next step.

Over the years, I’ve learned that my cookies will only turn out as good as the ingredients I put inside. I use high quality chocolate chips, fresh rosemary, real butter and eggs that are from chickens that are free to perch and nest. I truly believe it’s why my cookies turn out delicious. I use Burnbrae Farms Nestlaid eggs, which I’ve purchased for a while now and always feel good serving them to my family. Their farm has been in the family since 1893. And as a family focused operation, they focus on being agriculturally responsible and treating their animals well. I always feel good when I see their packaging that announces their birds are free to perch and nest. Burnbrae Farms realizes that a happy hen is a healthier hen that produces a higher quality product… which means better cookies for us.
