Quick & Healthy Snack Ideas for Kids #JifToGo

By  |

I’m part of the Mom It Forward Blogger Network and I’m being compensated by Jif for participating in this campaign, but the love of going to the park with a certain little boy and eating peanut butter snacks is all my own idea.

What are you and your kids doing for fun this summer? Sam’s school finished two weeks earlier than all the other schools in our region, so there are no summer programs or camps in place yet. Therefore Sam, our new dog, Cassie, and I have been partners in crime.  We’ve been making lots of trips to our nearby park where there are some kid-cool features, including a huge sprinkler that looks like a geyser. All that fresh air and sunshine seems to grow appetites. It didn’t take too many trips to the park to realize I had better take healthy snacks with us. It would be way too easy to fall into the habit of making not-so-wise choices in the form of drive-thru food.

Healthy Snack Ideas for Kids #JifToGo

If you have any athletes in your house, going to one of the “Kick It” soccer tournaments would be a fun summer activity. There’s one in Portage, Michigan, which isn’t far from my Spaceships and Laser Beams buddy, Layne. She has a new house and I have been thinking of excuses to go see her. Jif is partnering with the “Kick It” soccer tour and U.S. Captain of the Women’s National Team, Christie Rampone, to announce the Halftime Heroes Photo Promotion. Their goal is to help the program raise $25,000 for the Boys and Girls Clubs of America.

Kids Playing Soccer

The world’s largest 3v3 2015 soccer tournament “Kick It” Tour is in full swing now through August 9th at 50 different locations. You can have family fun and support the Boys and Girls Clubs at the same time. At each event, families can enjoy free samples of Jif To Go. Jif is encouraging families to take pictures while they visit the Jif tent and then share a photo on Twitter or Instagram, showing how they “get going”. Use the hashtags #JifToGo #PromoEntry for the Halftime Heroes Photo Promotion and then Jif will make a $1 donation to the Boys and Girls Clubs of America for every entry using the hashtags, up to $25,000.

3v3 soccer is gaining in popularity, probably because it is faster paced and higher scoring than traditional soccer. Some aspects of the game remind me of basketball and even hockey. Since each team can only have three of its members on the field at any time, there are lots of player substitutions. There aren’t any permanent positions so as each team member rotates, they have lots of opportunities to develop their skills. I think Sam would have fun watching all those kids rush around the field.

Jif To Go

Even if you can’t make it to one of the soccer tournaments, you can still enjoy Jif To Go snacks. I can attest they’re great to grab when you’re going to the park and you want a quick and convenient snack.  The 1.5 ounce cups (three or eight count packages) are just right for dipping apples in peanut butter. Jif To Go Dippers include pretzels with creamy peanut butter or chocolate silk peanut butter spread, too.

Delicious Snack Idea

To find Jif To Go snacks, go to your local grocery store. Find the “Kick It” tournament schedule, so you can participate in the fun. To find the best smile in the world, go look at your own little guy!

Stephanie is in love with a boy named Sam. He has taught her that it's okay to jump first and look later, to wear a dirty shirt to the park and to decide that today is a good day to take a nap in your rubber boots. She hangs out here blogging at Spaceships and Laser Beams and at our printable party shop on Etsy.
