Party Food Ideas: Sour Cream & Herb Dip

By  | Last Updated:

You know that gnawing feeling when you’re hungry for something, but don’t know what it is? That’s what I call the munchies; that’s when I start cruising around the kitchen and checking out everything in the pantry. It doesn’t happen that often but it did the other night and I came up with a delicious newbie combo: sour cream and herb dip…with toast! Of course chips and dip or veggies and dip are popular pairings, but I wasn’t hungry for veggies and I didn’t have chips but I did have some day-old bread. You know the kind that is still perfectly good, but a little dry? To make it partyish (you know me!) I used a shamrock shaped cookie cutter on the bread, put a little butter on it and popped it in the toaster oven on broil. Perfect! And perfect for dipping in this deliciously satisfying sour cream and herb dip, too. Here’s the recipe I used, in case you get the munchies or if you just want an awesome party dip!

Best Sour Cream & Herb Dip {from $5 Dinners}

  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon basil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon dill
  • 2 tablespoons parsley

* I used dried herbs

I used about a tablespoon of this herb mix to ½ cup of sour cream for my snack. Delicious! The rest can easily be stored for next time.

Bonus idea: I’ve also used this herb mix on crockpot chicken, too. For an Italian type flavor, you can add two tablespoons of oregano and a small drizzle of olive oil. Yum!
