Paradise Smoothie

It’s January. That means three things: 1.) time to get serious about returning to healthy habits after the holidays; 2.) blasts of frosty winter hit me every time I walk out the door; 3.) I’m having reoccurring dreams about palm trees swaying in the breeze, warm sandy beaches and all things sunshine-y bright.

Paradise Smoothie

What do those three things have to do with each other? Cold winter weather after holiday binging seems to invite germs at the top of the New Year. That’s a wake-up call to leave for a tropical island…or at least a reminder to get back to healthy basics! At our house, we’re currently enjoying the delicious benefits of smoothies.

Frozen Fruit for Smoothie

Smoothies are great for breakfast or anytime snacks. My Paradise Smoothie is totally satisfying. It not only tastes delicious, the colorful fruit looks very appealing. Even better, it’s good for you. Adding ¼ cup of egg whites packs in 7 grams of protein, adds only 30 calories and no fat or cholesterol.

Fresh Smoothie Ingredients

  • 2 cups frozen fruit (I used a mix of peaches, mangoes and strawberries)
  • 2 small bananas (or 1 large)
  • 1/3 cup vanilla Greek yogurt
  • 1/4 cup Burnbrae Farms Simply Egg Whites
  • 1/2 cup water

Fruit & Protein Smoothie

Toss all ingredients into blender. Pour into a mug. Top with extra fruit. Embellish with a cute straw. Sip!

Simply Egg Whites

Egg are considered the highest quality natural source of protein, with a complete set of body-building amino acids. I like the fact that Burnbrae Farms Simply Egg Whites are pasteurized (with no preservatives or added ingredients) so they can be safely used in smoothies or no-bake recipes. The ready-to-pour Simply Egg Whites are convenient and quick. There’s no having to separate the eggs and throw away the yolks.

To start the New Year off right, the nice people at Burnbrae Farms are offering a giveaway. No, not a tropical island paradise get-away, but a Burnbrae Farms Basket filled with $100 worth of merchandise and coupons. That’s a warm welcome to the New Year!
