Growing up in Newfoundland, Dr Pepper was a real treat. I always loved the one of a kind flavor and bubbly feel whenever we enjoyed it. Some of my favorite memories are of movie night with my dad — we would munch on popcorn and make ice cream floats with Dr Pepper to sip on while we watched.

Last Friday, I was all set for a delicious backyard BBQ. I went to Walmart earlier in the week to pick up everything we would need, including a 12 pack of Dr Pepper cans. However, by late Friday afternoon, I realized things were not going to go as planned since storms were rolling in. Even though I’m loving grilling season and I was looking forward to more time outside, we decided to make the best of it and move the party inside!

Once we were inside, Mike suggested we watch a movie and it instantly made me think of my Friday night movie time with dad, complete with Dr Pepper ice cream floats. They’re so simple to make and oh-so-good. Perfect for a movie night in or for a backyard bash!

Dr Pepper Ice Cream Float for Summer

Dr Pepper ice cream floats are so simple to make — which makes them perfect for outdoor parties since you can do several of them quickly and get back to time with your guests.

  1. Select an awesome glass or mug.
  2. Pour in the Dr Pepper, filling about 3/4 of the way.
  3. Put in a scoop of vanilla ice cream — try other flavors of ice cream for more fun flavor combos!
  4. Pick a fun straw… I’m loving the red polka dots.
  5. You could also garnish with some sprinkles or a dash of chocolate syrup as well.
  6. Enjoy!

Enjoying these ice cream floats was like a flash back to being home with my dad. Such sweet memories to enjoy while enjoying a sweet drink!
