I’ve always loved the laid-back feeling of grilling out and having get-togethers with family and friends. Now that we’re so close to the beach, grilling out happens even more often. That means I’ve been experimenting with new dinner menu ideas. You can only serve burgers so many times! I’m pleased with my recent experiment: BBQ Kielbasa Bites with Pineapple Salsa. It’s a great taste combo.
Since the calendar has rolled over to August, it no longer feels like summer is stretched out before us like a long, lazy cat. Have you noticed the days are already feeling a little shorter?
Reminders about school and time for new routines are popping up. Autumn might be my favorite season but I’m not quite ready to go there. This summer has been glorious and I want it to last for me and my family!
Living so close to the beach has made this summer even more awesome. Walking in the sand, listening to the rhythmic lap-lap of the waves, taking time to watch the sunset…it’s been so relaxing.
I highly recommend breaking out of the rut of routines that no longer work! It’s amazing how invigorating a new mind set can be. It influences everything—even the dinner menu!
I had in mind that I wanted to find a new taste to add to our family dinner menu rotation, so the last time I was at Walmart, I picked up Hillshire Farm® smoked sausage. I wanted to come up with something that would work for a casual meal or as an appetizer.
Hillshire Farm is a family owned company and that always seems like a plus to me. They produce premium, high quality sausage with authentic flavor.
And Hillshire Farm offers a wide variety of flavors, including Cheddar Wurst, Chicken Hardwood Smoked Sausage, and Cajun Style Andouille Smoked Sausage. I chose Turkey Polska Kielbasa for this recipe. It was a good choice. The kids absolutely loved it!
I grilled the sausages (quick! easy!) and basted them with BBQ sauce and then topped them with homemade pineapple salsa. So much flavor—so good!
The mini hot dog style makes the kielbasa bites just right for a variety of appetites (have one, or two, or…). I can see making these for our family dinner and as appetizers for all sorts of occasions: family parties, football games with the kids and their friends, and even holiday entertaining. The kielbasa/salsa combo is sure to impress my family.
This is a terrific and easy meal with lots of fresh flavor to wake up sleepy taste buds and it’ll have your family asking for more!
