Fun Party Food: Chocolate Chip Brookies
As a busy mom, I’m all about keeping things wholesome and simple. If you’ve been part of Spaceships and Laser Beams for long, you know that Sam is my favourite kitchen sidekick. He loves helping out and I love spending the time together. I appreciate that he’s learning practical skills while having fun — and I love to hear about his day, what he’s imagining and hoping for as we work side by side.
We’re in the middle of selling our house and purchasing a new one which means that our time together is even more precious. To make the most of our time, I’ve been sticking to simple recipes that aren’t time consuming but offer a delicious treat at the end.
Part of making any recipe extra good is using quality ingredients. I was excited to find out that Becel® margarine is now made with simpler ingredients. It’s made from a blend of plant and seed oils – including Becel’s Master Blend of sunflower and Canadian canola oil – that provide a source of good Omega 3 polyunsaturated fats that our bodies need. It has no artificial preservatives, flavours or colours, which means you can feel good about choosing Becel margarine as part of your heart healthy lifestyle. It contains no trans-fat and has 80% less saturated fat than butter.
Now for the facts that Sam really cares about: it has a great taste your family will love and can be used for cooking, baking, frying, sautéing and spreading. It’s versatile for any recipe and can replace butter 1:1 wherever you need it!
After dinner together tonight, Mike, Sam and I indulged in these delicious — and easy! — brookies.

- If you’d like even more reasons to celebrate, be sure to check out the Becel Blend Bar in person!
At the Blend Bar by Becel®, you’ll see how plant and seed oils, like Becel’s Master Blend of Canadian canola and sunflower oil, are blended to create soft, non-hydrogenated margarine. Residents of Toronto and the GTA are invited to visit the Blend Bar at Loblaws at Maple Leaf Gardens to watch the Master Blender at work, and to taste the fresh margarine blended on the spot. At the Blend Bar, you can learn about the blending process and discover how margarine can be made from ingredients that can be found in your kitchen, like seed and plant oils. You can experience the #BecelBlendBar if you live in Toronto, by visiting the Loblaws store at Maple Leaf Gardens.
When: March 2-20, 2016
Where: Loblaws store at Maple Leaf Gardens
Time: Monday to Friday 11am – 7pm and Saturday/Sunday 10am – 6pm
I’m excited to partner with the Becel® with this fun recipe. Although I was compensated, all ideas are my own.
